Summary What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position? Salary: GS-12: $99,200 (Step 01) to $128,956 (Step 10) Responsibilities As an Information Specialist within the Science and Decisions Center, some of your specific duties will include: Managing technical aspects of SDC webpages and internet services; Working with scientists to develop key messages and incorporate website content; Developing and managing educational and scientific information materials for various outreach venues such as conferences, meetings, and USGS publications; Developing designs and concepts, including layouts and graphics, for products disseminating information broadly; Serving as liaison for major national-level scientific conferences, making conference planning decisions and managing contractual agreements; Providing management and administrative support to the Science and Decisions Center, including archiving of scientific products, and serving as federal records liaison and IT liaison. Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position? Because this position requires travel for official business, the selectee will be required to apply for a charge card within 30 calendar days of appointment. A background investigation will be required for this position. Qualifications Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-12 level: One year of professional experience that is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service, particularly in working on national/international-level conferences. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of such experience may include serving as liaison with professional conference organizers, making conference planning decisions, and managing the contractual agreement; or serving on the conference scientific committee, coordinating and participating in conference-related tasks (such as choice of scientific themes, review of abstracts and symposium speakers), in collaboration with scientists from other federal agencies, academia, and non-governmental organizations. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement. Education Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
