Google Head of Security Engineering, Google Public Sector in Reston, Virginia
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer (PCSE) certification or other professional cybersecurity certification (e.g., CISSP, Security+)
9 years of experience delivering security solutions to enterprise, telecommunications, or government customers
Experience with Cloud Security, Risk Management Compliance, Google Cloud Platform, and Technical Program Management
Preferred qualifications:
Active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance
Experience in all core CSE IC RRK and functions (e.g., partner engineering, client consulting, and domain-specific knowledge needed for the specific role such as online advertising, relevant Google product knowledge, tech stack and processes)
Experience in leadership and people management with excellent coaching, mentoring, and communication skills to create an inclusive and growth-friendly team
Knowledge of the public sector (e.g., DoD, IC) security and compliance frameworks
Ability to serve as an authority in security and compliance domains across PSO Public Sector
As the Head of Security Engineering for PSO Public Sector Professional Services, you will lead your team to help clients achieve their objectives via custom solutions and technical consultation. You will own industry/regional challenges requiring new capabilities or avenues to engage. You will influence teams across the organization to advance organization-wide goals. You will ensure the right internal teams are engaged and that there is a clear strategy. You will influence stakeholders at the Director+ level (both internally and externally) to help achieve their goals. You will oversee cross-functional projects by balancing priorities, trade-offs, timelines, and constraints. You will impact the contribution of other managers through support and partnership. You utilize coaching, mentoring, and communication skills to create an inclusive and growth friendly team.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$257,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Direct a portfolio of strategic, complex, multidisciplinary programs that significantly accelerate business impact of the GPS organization.
Navigate ambiguity to define and drive cross-functional programs in large, complex work groups to solve highly complex and novel challenges with clear impact and ensure cross-functional initiatives operational requirements are met (e.g., timelines and goals met, compliant with legal/engineering policies, recurring reviews held, and communications sent).
Improve technical delivery to better support diverse public sector customers.
Operate and sustain a financially healthy professional services business by setting outlook, aligning resources, reinforcing prioritization principles, and coaching team members.
Manage stakeholders at the Director+ level both, internally and externally, to help achieve their goals and impact the contributions of other managers through support and partnership.
