ICF Energy & Sustainability Specialist – Support for Energy Service Providers (Hybrid/Remote) in Reston, Virginia

Description

Energy & Sustainability Specialist – Support for Energy Service Providers Web Services

Location Reston, VA (hybrid 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)

LOB/Portfolio: CET/EID/Commercial/Industrial Energy Programs (CIEP)

Want to design and develop energy and climate programs, and engage with industry leaders and government officials to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions? You can at ICF. We solve the most challenging issues facing the energy industry today while informing the future of global energy use.

ICF is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated candidate to help federal government clients implement and evolve their energy efficiency, decarbonization, and sustainability programs. This position will be based in our Reston, VA headquarters office in a hybrid work environment. For successful candidates, a significant portion (at least 50%) of the role will entail outreach to and engagement with current and prospective users of the ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® web services application programming interface (API), which may include software as-a-service (SaaS) providers, utilities, and other 3rd parties supporting energy management activities in the commercial and multifamily building sectors. Use of this API is a critical pathway by which a broad range of organizations streamline/automate the exchange of data between their own systems and Portfolio Manager. Common use cases include (but are not limited to) the integration of Portfolio Manager functionality into third party energy/sustainability management software platforms; delivery of aggregate whole-building consumption data from utilities to building owners’ Portfolio Manager accounts; and streamlined internal reporting of key metrics calculated by Portfolio Manager (e.g., for sustainability reporting). At present, more than 80% of property records benchmarked in Portfolio Manager each year are exchanging data via API at some point in the process, making this a critical mechanism for continued program growth.

The remainder of responsibilities will include some combination of (1) support for the broader ENERGY STAR Service and Product Provider partnership (of which API users are just one component) and (2) programmatic support for key ENERGY STAR support functions that may include but are not limited to: development of training materials for program stakeholders; reviewing applications for ENERGY STAR Certification; analytical support for underlying Portfolio Manager functionality.
