Where the chemistry happens…

The North America Cotton Breeding Manager at BASF, located in RTP, NC will direct Cotton breeding teams across North America to ensure development of superior germplasm, varieties, and a sustainable commercial product pipeline as defined by the strategic plan, to continue market share growth, and to lead implementation of new breeding innovations to support long-term competitiveness.

You will lead the implementation of R&D Innovation strategy, such as Predictive Breeding to support the breeding processes, evaluation and decision making for commercial variety development for the customer and marketplace in support of the growth of BASF cotton crop business.

You will lead, inspire, and develop high-performing breeding team and promote collaboration of the team across R&D and Business stakeholders.

As a North America Cotton Breeding Manager, You Create Chemistry By...

• Collaborating with the regional Strategic marketing, Business and R&D teams in driving the development and realization of the regional cotton strategy and the overall implementation of it in relation to breeding, trait development, and new product pipeline.

• Being responsible for the technical aspects of cotton breeding needed for the realization of the regional strategic plan. Also, coordinating the breeding programs in terms of goals, germplasm development, project sharing, and technical standardization.

• Building and maintaining trust, inspiring, motivating, and developing high-performing teams.

• Establishing and maintaining solid networks with regional business partners and the agronomic community to capture information of relevant trends influencing the business. This includes, partnering with BASF R&D organizations to support the advancement for crop protection, digital, and seed products.

If you...

• Possess a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, plant science, agronomy, agriculture, or Genetics with 10+ years industry experience.

• Have an extensive knowledge of commercial breeding programs, pipeline, and breeding techniques as well as plant biotechnology and analytical methods.

• Are capable to develop new concepts and applications to plan for future needs through critical and strategic thinking.

• Demonstrate strong leadership skills to interact with several diverse project and functional teams, both regionally and globally. This includes 5+ years of experience in effectively leading, hiring, coaching, and developing agile global teams.

• Ability to travel up to 50% during the active field season
