PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $164,200.00-$200,600.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $127,900.00 - $237,200.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE:

As the Senior Manager Credit Risk Officer, Unsecured at BECU, you'll play a crucial role in shaping and executing credit risk strategies across various portfolios, including Consumer Real Estate, Consumer Auto & Other Secured Loans, Consumer Unsecured, and Business Banking. Your work will ensure that BECU maintains a balanced risk profile while meeting members' needs. You’ll oversee a team of Credit Risk Strategy Analysts, driving initiatives that adhere to governance standards and comply with federal and state regulations. By fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and presenting at executive-level meetings, you'll contribute to the organization's strategic direction and financial health.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Credit Risk Management: Develop and manage credit risk strategies across BECU's portfolios, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Committee Participation: Present and participate as a member of the Credit Risk Committee, Board, and Executive Management meetings.

  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of Credit Risk Strategy Analysts, overseeing resource allocation, employee development, and departmental administration.

  • Risk Appetite & Strategy: Lead changes to risk appetite and support credit risk initiatives in areas such as portfolio origination, account management, and loss mitigation.

  • Market Analysis: Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within BECU's portfolios, staying informed of economic trends and industry best practices.

  • Decision Engine Optimization: Optimize lending and account management decision engines to align with risk strategies and enhance member experience.

  • Policy Documentation: Develop and oversee consistent documentation of BECU's policy framework, including policies, guidelines, procedures, and standards.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain effective communication with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

  • Vendor Management: Manage vendor contracts to ensure cost-efficient and quality service for BECU members.

  • Employee Development: Coach, mentor, and train staff, conducting regular performance reviews and supporting career development.

  • Operational Oversight: Ensure timely and accurate service delivery, setting departmental goals aligned with BECU's objectives.

  • Audit & Reporting: Maintain operational audit and management information reporting, including statistical records.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics, or economics, or equivalent work or educational experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant credit risk management and credit risk analytics experience, including a focus on areas such as Consumer Credit Card and/or Consumer Unsecured (Personal loan or line of credit).

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and formulate recommendations. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Proficient in PC skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), with the ability to quickly learn new software.

  • Advanced experience with quantitative software and database querying tools (e.g., SAS, SQL, Python) and presentation development software (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrable knowledge of industry practices, regulatory restrictions, and lifecycle risk management philosophies.

  • Proven ability to perform portfolio analysis and articulate risk management outcomes.

  • Proven leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and lead cohesive, cross-functional teams.
