Job Summary
Compass is looking for a Senior Director, Database Services. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in mentoring, team development, and database management, including hands-on experience with various database solutions and ITIL practices. Key responsibilities include leading the Database Services team, optimizing database architecture, and ensuring high availability and performance. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are critical for success in this role.
Experience Requirements:
Proven experience in people mentoring and development
Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with executives
Experience in developing high-performing teams
ITIL certification or extensive experience with ITIL practices
Hands-on experience with DB2, AWS RDS and Aurora, MySQL, Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, and other enterprise database solutions
Expertise in database architecture, archiving, optimization, observability, high availability, and database tuning
Experience in directing a diverse group of individuals
Experience in leading budgets and forecasts
Proactive in staying up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in database management
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and run the Database Services team to ensure the delivery of high-quality database solutions
Develop and implement strategies for database architecture, optimization, and high availability
Oversee database performance tuning and ensure observability and archiving practices are in place
Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team
Collaborate with executives and other partners to align database services with business goals
Ensure compliance with ITIL standards and industry guidelines
Empower and encourage the team to achieve their full potential through effective leadership and coaching
Manage budgets and forecasts for the Database Services department
Work effectively with cross-functional teams and partners

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (required)
Master's Degree in a relevant field (desired)
