Saint-Gobain Scale-up Engineer in Remote, United States

What’s the job?-

The challenge of transforming waste asphalt shingles into a reusable resource presents a unique challenge and opportunity for the Roofing business in North America. As the Scale-Up Engineer, you will be instrumental in solving this challenge by driving industrialization of asphalt shingle recycling technology. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, and engineering partners, you will play a critical role in scaling up and transforming waste asphalt shingles into a new raw material, enhancing their circularity and extending their useful life.-

Manage Project Execution:-

  • Oversee engineering, procurement, and construction activities. Work with business lead and purchasing to secure engineering services; own relationship with service providers and equipment manufacturers

  • Coordinate site design with major equipment manufacturers, licensee and Others.

  • Take a hands-on approach to collaborate with shingle recycling partners. Support Circular Economy manager with customer and licensee communications as needed, including customer meetings, travel, site identification, etc.-

Ensure Clear and Consistent Documentation:-

  • Create and manage a comprehensive library of Prototype documentation, including building plans and engineering & equipment specifications, process flow diagrams, start up and commissioning verification, training materials, operations and maintenance documentation.- -

  • Create, review, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for shingle recycling process

  • Develop and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Routings in a consistent format.-

Support Customer/Licensee Startup:-

  • Drive in the startup, commissioning, qualification and verification of new equipment and mechanical systems at the customer plant sites.-

Optimize Process Performance, Champion Cost-Effective Design-

  • Balance safety, operational needs, maintenance requirements, compliance and sustainability in process design and optimization. Develop designs and processes that deliver the best possible performance at the lowest cost.

  • Determine the capabilities of scale-up processes and implement control systems to ensure consistent production of high-quality products at desired yield and throughput rates.

  • Analyze data to identify problems impacting product quality, yield, or throughput. Propose practical solutions that minimize defects, waste, and improve overall process performance.

  • Working with consultants, customers and R&D to recommend alternative materials and equipment with clear justifications for their potential to significantly improve quality, reduce costs, or enhance plant efficiency.-

What do you bring? -

  • -Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Process, Industrial or Similar engineering discipline.-

  • Experience with process design, development, procurement, installation, and commissioning.-

  • Knowledge and understanding of all types of engineering drawings (civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, etc)-

  • Preferred candidate may have operational site and project execution experience, specifically with scale-up or industrialization.-

  • 7-10 years of experience in an industrial or construction manufacturing environment.-

  • Travel requirements from 10-40% throughout the continental US. Should be located near a major airport to facilitate travel
