Actalent Electrical Controls Engineer in Redondo Beach, California

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create or update electrical schematic drawings for nanobubble generator electrical panels. These schematics include components like motor starters, relays, PID controllers, PLCs, custom-built PCBs, and power supplies.

  • Design, analyze, source, prototype, and test new electrical panels and control systems.

  • Write PLC and HMI programs based on product architecture, addressing failure modes and ensuring safe automation.

  • Upgrade existing PLC programs, improve structure, and enhance automation features.

  • Provide accurate electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials to support production.

  • Follow best practices for product traceability, including drawings revision control, ECO/ECN, and BOM changes.

  • Conduct value engineering to reduce cost and mitigate failure risks.

  • Collaborate with the global field service team to address time-sensitive field issues.

  • Work closely with the supply chain team and vendors to reduce lead times.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in:

  • Drafting electrical schematics/line diagrams (AutoCADĀ® preferred).

  • Designing electrical panels for components like pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.

  • PLC programming (Phoenix Contact, Allen Bradley or Siemens preferred).

  • Structuring accurate bills of materials (BOMs).

  • On-site work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with writing and executing test plans and procedures.

  • Ability to select components with correct ratings and safety margins.

  • Proficiency in writing work instructions, engineering reports, and procedures.

  • Effective time management and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent communication skills for presenting progress, test results, and reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing electromechanical systems with flow management devices (pumps, compressors, valves, pressure vessels, etc.). PCB design experience.

  • 3D CAD modeling and drafting

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Electromechanical Engineering from an accredited university
