INTERNET DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (STARLINK) Starlink is the world's largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to 4M+ users worldwide. We've only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink's potential global impact and are looking for best-in-class engineers to help develop the systems that enable providing service in new markets and even greater system performance and growth potential. As a Sr. Internet Development Engineer, you will work within our Starlink Ground Network Engineering team to help build and grow the network on a global scale. You will be part of a team with a significant impact on the quality of our service delivered to our customers around the world. RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage and expand network interconnections, network co-location sites and points of presence (POPs) Identify strategic peering partners in new and existing markets to improve Starlink's global connectivity Coordinate with legal teams to negotiate and sign peering agreements with peering partners Improve network performance and reliability based upon system performance metrics, including capacity planning, traffic engineering, failure detection and remediation Assist in negotiating technical aspects of supplier and service provider contracts Assist in coordinating IP transit, public and private peering globally Assist in architecting how Starlink satellite assets will integrate with more traditional ground networks BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years of professional hands on experience operating global service provider, cloud or web-scale networks Experience with public internet exchanges and private peering PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of the business drivers of network peering and the contractual and legal frameworks Experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing protocol and router configurations to promote BGP peering Experience diagnosing technical issues with peering sessions and providing feedback to the network engineering teams to aid troubleshooting Deep understanding of service provider networks including but not limited to: Connectivity (Ethernet, IPv4, IPv6 and MPLS) Routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) Network security and Anti-DDoS measures Internet services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.) Strong background on network automation and programmability, including Python, Golang, Ansible, Stackstorm, etc. Familiarity with monitoring systems such as Prometheus or ELK stack Experience with hands-on work in bringing up network infrastructure Experience creating documentation and procedures Ability to run projects independently Experience working on wireless networks Experience working on software defined networking (SDN) and/or network function virtualization (NFV) Cisco, Juniper, Arista or other industry certifications ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be willing to do some travel domestically and globally when needed Must be willing to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary to support launch and critical project timelines COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay range: Network Engineer/Senior: $160,000.00 - $220,000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
