Amazon Software Dev Engineer (SDE), Project Kuiper in Redmond, Washington
Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Have you wanted an opportunity to develop software for an advanced satellite broadband telecom service? The Asset and Configuration Management Engineering (ACME) team owns the tracking and managing Kuiper assets, such as satellites and ground stations, and their configuration.
The systems we build serve a fundamental role in the successful operation of the satellite constellation, these systems need to have mission-critical reliability, uptime, and performance.
Key job responsibilities
Develop software systems that meet the mission criteria and requirements.
Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Project Kuiper.
Help on-board new team members.
Utilize AWS and other Amazon technologies to build high-available software services.
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
About the team
The ACME team's mission is to track Kuiper assets and provide a central system for accessing, modifying, and understanding configuration values for these assets, as is needed for a safe operation of the constellation. Through automation, we will validate all new and updated configuration values as required before delivering to the destination assets.

Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
