Microsoft Corporation Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager in Redmond, Washington

The CSCP Organization is responsible for traditional supply chain functions such as Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, but also manages supportability (spares), decommissioning and disposition of Data center assets worldwide. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform for external customers. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 200 datacenters supporting services for more than 1 billion customers in over 90 countries worldwide.

Cloud Sourcing and Supply Chain (CSSC) organization within CSCP manages sourcing and supply of IT hardware for the data centers. Well-defined and executed sourcing and supply chain management ensures reliable on-time performance, optimized cost, prevents urgent and unplanned investments, and provides accurate and timely information across the supply base and internally across the infrastructure organization. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide. We are looking for a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to help build sustainable advantage through the supply chain.

Responsibilities

Sourcing management

o Engage with cross-functional leadership including product design, quality, and business teams to determine best design solution and supply base to deliver that solution at optimal SC, COS, and cost.

o Lead a supplier selection process to verify appropriate supplier is chosen with suitable capabilities for the given product while ensuring all potential suppliers meet the business, technical, and financial requirements of the program.

o Manage contracting activities with Legal and Contracts Management team and ensure contracts reflect appropriate business terms, IP protection, etc.

Cost and operations management

o Build multi-sourcing strategy to mitigate risk and drive appropriate competition.

o Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive suppliers for cost competitiveness with cost modelling and other sourcing tools.

o Run weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews with team on cost and operations KPIs.

o Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g., tariffs / import export cost, cost inflation.

o Continuous improvement of all critical areas around supply, manufacturing, and cost.

o Manage NPI (New Product Introduction) development builds until mature enough to transition to sustaining sourcing team.

Manage supplier performance and compliance

o Develop and enable introduction of new suppliers. Supervise compliance with MSFT requirements for security, social responsibility, and payment terms.

o Ensure suppliers deliver timely corrective actions from business review / audits.

o Support and meet business cost metrics through the development process

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Engineering field working experience OR sourcing/supply chain working experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years experiences in procurement, supply chain, operations areas.

  • Extensive experience in leading cross functional teams.

  • Engineering or technical background or product development is a plus.

  • Cloud or high tech supply chain experience.

Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
