Azure Stack is a key Microsoft initiative to bring the Azure cloud platform to customers who cannot adopt one of the public Azure offerings. Our team builds integration APIs and features to enable hardware device management scenario (provisioning, health, monitoring, FRU), and work with hardware partners to architect complete end to end solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with peers to design, implement, and improve integration APIs, features, and automation to enable hardware device management and remediation scenarios (provisioning, health, monitoring, FRU)

  • Work with OEM partners on hardware platform design, certification, software deployment, E2E solution lifecycle, and datacenter integration to support large scale cloud deployments.

  • Instrument data and develop metrics to measure usage, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction, driving informed decision-making.

  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including troubleshooting guides and design documents.

  • Debug and troubleshoot complex live site issues across a diverse network, compute, and storage technology stack.

  • Ability to engage in DevOps engineering practices.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamental, routing protocols (BGP), IP addressing (IPv4, IPv6), security (ACL, IPS, IDS), and network infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP)

Other Requirements:

  • Cloud Background check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with datacenter hardware (compute, storage, and networking) and related technologies (BMC, RDMA, IPMI, Redfish, VxLAN, SDN)

  • 3+ years of programming experience with C#, Java, GoLang, C or C++ and scripting experience in PowerShell

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamental, routing protocols (BGP), IP addressing (IPv4, IPv6), security (ACL, IPS, IDS), and network infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP)

  • Hands-on experience configuring network devices from Cisco, Arista and Dell is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with Openconfig and gNMI is a plus.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
