Meta Rapid Prototyping Engineer in Redmond, Washington

Summary:

The Advanced Development Team at Eyepiece engineering within Reality Labs (RL) XDO organization focuses on developing solutions to enable novel experiences with industry-leading AR and Smart glasses devices, which will bring the world closer and empower people to build communities. Given the team’s mission to ship world-class products; high engineering rigor, creative problem solving, and cross-functional communication are expected and broadly valued. The team is laser-focused on incubating prototypes for our NPI/NTI/platform development. We are seeking a Rapid Prototyping Engineer experienced with optical/display module system prototyping and integration; able to work collaboratively across both deep and broad cross-functional teams to generate learnings and identify respective risks as early as possible; and focused on execution while providing clear and effective communication to remove barriers across teams.

Required Skills:

Rapid Prototyping Engineer Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with researchers and engineers to define prototype specifications

  2. Design, build and integrate eyepiece samples in the lab for design of experiment verification and optimization of different materials/components and process conditions

  3. Clearly communicate prototyping trade-offs, decision points, and timelines to key internal and partner stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or equivalent work experience

  2. 2+ years of experience building and iterating prototypes in short design cycles.

  3. Experience designing for fast manufacturing techniques (e.g. lamination, machining, 3D printing).

  4. Problem solving experience and attention to detail.

  5. Experience communicating concepts and designs through sketches and low fidelity prototypes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with consumer electronic prototyping, preferably with wearables applications.

  2. Familiarity with industrial manufacturing processes such as EP building and optical components manufacturing.

  3. Expertise in prototyping electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical systems.

Public Compensation:

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
