If you are passionate about innovation and want to work on a team dedicated to a culture of inclusion, growth mindset and collaboration, we are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to join us. 

As a Principal Software Engineering Manager in the Mesh Platform and Services team, you will work alongside product managers, research, 3D experiences and other partner teams building the next generation of cloud services and media stacks that powers immersive, real-time collaboration experiences across a variety of devices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and support new functionality for Mesh platform.

  • Partner with Product Management to meet immediate and longer-term business objectives.

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance and live site.

  • Hire, retain, and grow talent.

  • Foster a healthy and inclusive team environment.

  • Support production services on a rotational, on-call basis.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager, or a technical lead with a passion for coaching and mentoring others.

  • 4+ years of experience in designing and implementing customer-facing REST API.

Other or Additional Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years people management experience.

  • Experience in building and releasing distributed, high-scalecloud services on Azure, AWS or similar.

  • Experince in building services using .NET, Docker Containers and Kubernetes.

  • Experience in building compliant Continuous integration (CI)/ Continuous delivery (CD) and release management pipelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Experience in service level agreement (SLA) management, including defining, measuring, and owning key performance indicators (KPIs) such as uptime, latency, and throughput.Capacity planning and resource management skills to ensure the service can scale efficiently while controlling costs.

  • Experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues and plans to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in setting clear expectations and objectives, managing team workload, and ensuring on-time delivery of projects with high quality.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
