Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Azure Edge & Platform security team where we create trustworthy Operating System and platform services to empower Microsoft and our customers to achieve more. We unlock the next wave of opportunity through at-scale ecosystem. It’s in an interesting time for cyber security as compute power improves significantly with cloud, more businesses are moving to cloud, and the recent scale-out adoption of Artificial Intelligence. We need to enable the business needs while look ahead to create solutions to battle these security challenges.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer to join us to lead some of the security initiatives. You will have the chance to drive initiatives and security strategies as well as problem solving to secure system against future threats supporting a wide spectrum of Microsoft products. You will support the team by providing technical guidance and performing technical reviews of the dev designs, prototyping, or getting work done.

Responsibilities

Responsiblities:

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to identity, investigate, and create solution for security initiatives.

  • Lead technical investigation, design and prototype and build solutions with partner teams to satisfy customers/partners’ security needs.

  • Support the creation of product roadmaps for timely release and easy adoption utilizing customer data.

  • Perform technical review of the dev designs and code as needed.

  • Model a quality-first engineering culture, mentor/coach the team to utilize tooling/processes, and enhance quality and reliability of the solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Pythono OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience leading strategic initiatives across large group of people

Other Required Qualifications:

  • Background Check: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows OS security

  • Deep knowledge about security.

  • Experience with PKI, key management, and trust areas.

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 - $304,200 per year.
