Microsoft Corporation Principal Engineering Lead in Redmond, Washington

The Xbox Experiences and Platform Commerce (XPC) team is looking for a Principal Engineering Lead to run one of our Monetization & UGC (User Generated Content) teams. In this role, you will manage a passionate group of software engineers to build a broad set of reliable, highly scalable distributed services. Our mission is to enable game developers to build sustainable economies and creator communities that invite players to participate in and contribute to experiences they love. Your team will be responsible for the design, development, and operation of those services to ensure delightful and reliable experiences for customers (e.g. game studios and developers).

You will need to collaborate closely with multiple partners, including our own SDK (software development kit), Tools, Portals, and LiveOps teams, as well as first (1PP) and third (3PP) party studios, Xbox Live, Game Pass, Store, and our own Program Management team(s). You will manage a team of 5-7 engineers, guide them in their careers, provide clarity on prioritization, generate energy, and help drive toward success.

Responsibilities

As Principal Engineering Lead, you are expected to spend about half of your time developing, growing and directing engineers to reach higher potential. The balance of your time will be spent driving architecture, innovation, design, and development of highly scalable intelligent services/experiences within the team and pushing technology out to partners in the Microsoft Gaming Division.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, or Java

o OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, or Java

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, or Java

o OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
