Job Title: Mechanical Engineer VJob Description

Work in cross-functional teams with multiple engineering disciplines (optical, mechanical, electrical, firmware, etc.) to design and build experimental setups and engineering prototypes. Guidance and direction will be provided by optomechanical engineers and research scientists.

Responsibilities

• Design and build experimental setups and engineering prototypes.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including optical, mechanical, electrical, and firmware disciplines.

• Construct and maintain complex CAD models of optical and mechanical systems.

• Model and optimize simple optical systems.

• Own the full prototype loop, including design, fabrication, building, and testing.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical design skills for components and assemblies.

• Basic optical design skills for free space optical systems.

• Assembly and prototyping skills for large lab setups and form factor prototypes.

• Experience with Solidworks mechanical CAD.

• Experience with Zemax or Code V optical CAD.

• Knowledge of design for prototype manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, milling, and turning.

• Familiarity with lab processes and equipment, including lasers.

• General familiarity with standard optical and optomechanical components and major suppliers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to construct and maintain complex CAD models of optical and mechanical systems.

• Ability to model and optimize simple optical systems.

• Ability to own the full prototype loop of design, fabricate, build, and test.

• Self-starter, motivated, and detail-oriented.

• Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Creative and enjoys design work.

• Experience level: More than 5 years of work experience.

Work Environment

Onsite position located in Redmond, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00
