The CSCP organization oversees traditional supply chain functions, such as planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and delivery. Additionally, it manages supportability (spares), decommissioning, and the disposition of data center assets globally. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for more than 200 Microsoft online services, including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform, which supports external customers. Our infrastructure consists of a vast global network of over 200 data centers, serving more than 1 billion customers across 90+ countries worldwide.

The Global Supply Manager on the Cloud Sourcing, Spares, Sustainability, and Security (CS4) Supply Operations team will play a pivotal role in creating the Supply Plan of Record for several long-lead component suppliers in the storage accelerators and custom semiconductor space. This includes:

  • Ensuring the reliable supply of raw materials for system integration partners.

  • Managing materials at third-party logistics (3PL) stocking locations.

  • Driving aggressive inventory turns while meeting supply targets.

Additionally, this role involves defining key processes and system requirements, managing day-to-day interactions with suppliers, providing forecasts, and capturing supply capability information.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal teams to drive third-party logistics (3PL) and system integrator alignment to supply storage accelerators and custom semiconductors, ensuring production targets are met.

  • Meet regularly with assigned suppliers to review forecasts, capture supply commitments, and publish updates internally.

  • Engage with multiple groups within Microsoft to ensure supply alignment and mitigate risks related to excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory.

  • Review all purchase orders (POs) placed by Microsoft system integrators to ensure compliance and supportability against 3PL inventory positioning.

  • Manage metrics, including days of supply, E&O, shortages within lead times, and inventory exposure at each supplier, to improve overall performance.

  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain and Capacity Planning teams on product transition timing and availability, planning for platform end-of-life while minimizing E&O inventory and enabling the ramp-up of new platforms.

  • Define inventory buffer targets and strategies in partnership with Component Planning, based on historical usage and forecasts, while identifying the financial risks and liabilities associated with these buffers.

  • Perform scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of component shortages and demand fluctuations on the Supply Plan of Record.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 3+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 1+ year(s) supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 5+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 4+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Supply Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
