Microsoft Corporation Environmental Social Governance Senior Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) organization is responsible for the construction and management of the data center infrastructure underlying this growth. Due to this explosive growth, there are increasing demands for transparency as to the environmental impact of Cloud and AI operations worldwide. Microsoft is committed to being a leader in its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) approach, and its CO+I team is seeking a Senior Manager for ESG Disclosure to help demonstrate that leadership.

Reporting into the CO+I ESG function, this role will join the team accountable to ensure that the CO+I organization is able to successfully respond to ESG-focused inquiry in order to meet and exceed customer, regulator, investor, and analyst expectations for Cloud and AI services. In particular, this role will help coordinate across many stakeholders, functions, and business groups to ensure we are well-equipped to answer both internal as well as external benchmarking inquiries incl. regarding the ESG impact of cloud and AI services.

As a Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Senior Manager, you will partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Communications, PR, as well as other key stakeholders like corporate sustainability and marketing, to ensure that CO+I is able to tell a compelling and complete ESG narrative.

This role is not a marketing, communications, or PR role; rather, you will serve as a subject matter expert on CO+I’s ESG strategy so our organization can be equipped to disclose CO+I’s ESG story with confidence, demonstrate leadership, and build process to ensure content alignment and consensus as we do so.

In addition, this role will collaborate across the organization to help enable proactive partnership with key external bodies – such as independent publications, conference owners, and analyst groups – whose benchmarking rankings on ESG will be the most beneficial to Microsoft’s Cloud and AI business.

Responsibilities

  • Build process and gain alignment across the organization to enable a proactive approach to future ESG disclosure needs, such as those around the Impact of AI.

  • Drive proactive engagement and ESG benchmarking strategy with cloud service benchmarking agencies (i.e. Gartner, Forrester) aimed at maximizing Microsoft’s rating across multiple ESG vectors and stakeholders.

  • Lead across CO+I in enabling a seamless ability to respond to internal inquiry for CO+I ESG leadership, including identifying opportunities to improve our ability to meet the needs of our stakeholders.

  • Partner closely with Comms, PR, Corporate, and business executives in informing and enabling strategy focused on demonstrating ESG leadership for Cloud and AI.

  • Contribute to central repository of up-to-date ESGmaterial from across the organization andestablish a R hythm of B usiness to refresh material aligned to key internal and external milestones.

  • Manage internal advocacy strategy to enhance CO+I and peer organization employee understanding and appreciation for progress on ESG.

  • Empower Microsoft stakeholders to tell a cohesive, compelling, and consistent narrative on Cloud ESG.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 3+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area

  • OR 5+ years experience in corporate social responsibility, philanthropies, corporate affairs, or related area.

Other Requirements

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Corporate Social Responsibility M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
