Summary:

At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our team, whose mission is to design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer VR and AR experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with a broad set of experiences, including embedded design, analog/mixed signal design, power systems, wearables, or lower power design. The ideal candidate would be comfortable designing mixed high speed digital circuit boards, be experienced with troubleshooting at the board and system level, and be familiar with common development processes. They should have the ability to work with a team of researchers with tolerance for a high degree of ambiguity. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Required Skills:

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Designing schematics, completing board layouts, assembling, testing, debugging, and integrating designs into electro-mechanical systems.

2. Collaborating in a team environment across engineering disciplines.

3. Transforming ambiguous requests and vendor reference designs into working custom solutions.

4. Incubating new technologies into research prototypes.

5. Provide troubleshooting and expert root cause analysis to resolve design issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

6. 8+ years of experience along with a BS/MS in Digital System Design/Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

7. Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence Orcad, Altium or equivalent.

8. Experience with use of standard electrical engineering tools such as oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers and function generators.

9. Experience with mixed domain circuit design, filter design, operation/instrumentation amplifiers, ADC/DACs, power supply design, high speed differential circuits, uControllers, uProcessors, and programmable logic based development.

10. Experience defining requirements, working independently, managing priorities and cross-functional collaboration.

11. Familiarity with VR/AR systems or wearable low-power or portable electronic devices.

12. Experience programming in other languages like Python/Java/C#/C++/C, creating initial system bring-up, debugging, and test code.

13. Experience with IMUs/sensor physical sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods.

14. Experience defining and coordinating test procedures in a lab and factory environment to facilitate system bring-up and evaluation.

15. Experience with high speed signaling over DP, MIPI, HDMI, and USB.

Public Compensation:

$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
