Saint-Gobain Production Supervisor -Redcliff in REDCLIFF, Canada

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to his/her shift team involved in the manufacturing of fibreglass insulation to the Company's safety, quality and production standards while being consistent with CertainTeed Insulation and Saint-Gobain Canada's values and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a unionized team of 10 - 20 operators and 2 craftsmen at one time.

  • Manage HR related items within the team.

  • Able to delegate tasks with clear expectations and timeframes for completion.

  • Communicate efficiently events and issues with other shifts and managers.

  • Quality of reporting at the end of each shift (safety and environmental incidents, events, resources...).-

  • Responsible for the safety of operators and craftsmen on site; utilize safety audits/inspections, risk assessments and other Continuous Improvement tools to promote a strong safety culture

  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing all company safety guidelines and standards

  • Lead incident investigation using relevant tools

  • Execute daily production plan/schedule. Supervise and coordinate his/her shift and ensure each individual works in a safe and efficient manner to produce conforming product at all times

  • Ensure all quality testing are completed to the required standard

  • Assist shift team in troubleshooting using Continuous Improvement Problem Solving approach

  • Engage operators and craftsmen and provide coaching and mentoring

  • Perform production floor walk to ensure a high housekeeping standards throughout the facility

  • Complete production reports using computer software (Excel, SAP, MES)

  • Collaborate with Performance Teams to ensure daily issues are addressed in a timely manner

  • Identify training needs of his/her team and provide constructive performance feedback

  • Promote and enhance positive union/management relationship. Assist in the administration of the collective agreement and personnel issues

  • Validate working hours for his/her shift and schedule overtime and other shift coverage

  • Lead or participate in multiple improvement projects in a fast paced environment

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Chair and deliver team briefings on safety and operation topics with his team

  • Communicate and report to the other shift managers as well as the overall management team efficiently

  • Able to organize and lead the daily production meeting

Requirements:

  • A College Diploma in a technical field or equivalent work experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in a supervising/managing capacity. (preferred)

  • Experience working within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment is an asset

  • Outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, coaching and communication skills

  • Occupational Health and Safety knowledge

  • Working knowledge and experience of 5S and Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Words, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Experience with SAP is an asset.

  • Must be able to work rotating shifts as well as weekends when required

  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment.

  • Able to work 12 hour shifts including week ends in a 24/7 working environment

  • Able to be on your feet for extended periods, climb stairs
