Actalent Lab Technician in Reading, Pennsylvania
Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description
Perform testing using the Near Infra-red methods, acidity tests, sink work, and other microbial testing and environmental sampling. Prepare solutions and media required for laboratory testing. Sterilize equipment as needed. Perform butterfat and total solids tests on fluid milk, cream, condensed and sweetened condensed milk, and powdered products utilizing the appropriate tester. Maintain lab records of samples, test results, and lab quality control measures. Certify that finished product is suitable for sale by meeting government and customer specifications. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the lab and the integrity of all testing results. Evaluate truck shipments for acceptance based upon established criteria. Complete entry into the computer systems and generate requested reports.
Hard Skills
High School Diploma
Degree in Biology, Food Science, or other related field (Associates or Bachelors) OR at least one year experience in food manufacturing as a technician or in quality

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Work Environment
Need to be flexible for 12-hour shifts when needed. This is a 3rd shift role (12 midnight - 8 am) with a rotating schedule: 8 days on / 2 days off / 7 days on / 4 days off. Position will be in the lab and involve pulling samples. Expected to work no less than 40 hours a week, with at least 10 hours of overtime available. Must be available to work all 7 days a week, with two days off rotating. Holiday schedules will rotate as well. Schedules are done one month in advance.
