We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our retail merchant team.

Job Responsibilities As a member of the merchant team, the Buyer will be responsible for overseeing the multifaceted functions of the buying office area, with a focus on upholstered furniture.
Responsibilities include:
Experienced in all aspects of vendor negotiations
Merchandise selection, pricing and marketing
Business analysis
Management of Open to Buy
Vendor communication
Travel to markets
Manage day to day functions of office & staff
Advertising preparation and execution
Communication with and occasional visits to our branch store locations
Evaluate and select upholstered furniture based on quality, style, and market trends
Analyze sales data to identify popular upholstery styles, fabrics, and colors
Stay informed about furniture materials, construction techniques, and durability standards
Ensure proper inventory levels of upholstered furniture across various categories
Job Requirements Successful candidates for the Buyer role should have the ability to work with our stores in sharing product information to motivate the retail sales team to actively engage customers, sell merchandise, and provide excellent customer service.
Additional requirements of the Buyer include:
Bachelor's degree
Significant retail buying experience, preferably in upholstered furniture or home goods
Comprehensive knowledge of upholstered furniture construction, materials, and industry standards
Experience in sourcing and evaluating upholstered furniture manufacturers and suppliers
Familiarity with current trends in upholstery design, fabrics, and colors
Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Hyperion, and Word with the ability to learn additional systems used by our merchant divisions
Creative problem solving skills and learning agility
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to multi-task
Excellent time management skills
Available to work varied days and hours as work schedule requires, including some weekends in the peak seasons
Willingness to travel to furniture markets, trade shows, and vendor locations
