Amergis Behavioral Health Counselor in Reading, Pennsylvania
The Licensed Mental Health Practitioner/LicensedProfessional Counselor provides individual and group therapeutic services in avariety of settings across the age span and works collaboratively as part of amultidisciplinary team. The LicensedMental Health Practitioner / Licensed Professional Counselor administers anassortment of assessment tools and develop programming as needed to assist inthe treatment of a variety of behavioral disorders and disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides mental/behavioral healthcare for persons withmental health concerns, substance use issues, cognitive disabilities, and othermental/physical conditions
Evaluates patient’s physical or mental condition
Treats patients in an inpatient or outpatient treatmentfacility or in a correctional/forensic facility using a multidisciplinaryapproach
Provides individual and group therapeutic services
Provides targeting counseling designed to help theindividual overcome their mental health concerns or substance abuse issues
Remains knowledgeable of the latest methodologies incounseling to provide patients with the best possible care
Refers patients to other mental healthcare or medical providersas necessary
Develops and implements treatment plans
Provides a range of brief prevention, treatment and recoveryservices, as well as long-term treatment and support
Provides documentation to include, progress notes,assessments, and treatment activities that will be required
Knowledgeable with treatments such as dialectical behaviortherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, andcomplicated grief
Maintains confidentiality of records relating to patients’treatment
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner or LicensedProfessional Counselor in state practicing required
Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable
Current CPR if applicable
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
Current health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site
Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
