Senior Director, Clinical Operations

Home or Office-based

Responsibilities:

People Leadership:

  • Actively participate in the selection and recruitment of suitable and qualified staff.

  • Participate in clinical training as a presenter/facilitator.Assist with management training for other departments as Clinical Operations representative, as necessary

  • Ensure the office(s) and its staff operate in a professional and client orientated manner

  • Ensure local staff turnover levels are kept <15%.

  • Enforces ICON’s project governance system; keep senior management informed of project status in relation to quality, cost and timelines.

  • Integrate acquisitions/new department/new offices, as required

  • Collaborate closely to ensure Administrative, Human Resource, Finance and IT activities are appropriately delegated and managed

  • Demonstrate development, motivation and mentorship of Directors and Managers in multiple locations, as required.,

  • Lead succession planning and development of staff in the clinical department

  • Provide effective management support to local staff assigned to managers in other locations (remotely managed CRAs), as well as to local staff not currently assigned to a project, where applicable.

  • Support/conduct performance appraisals and assign responsibilities as appropriate for these individuals.

  • Ensure all necessary training is provided to staff to improve their job performance and knowledge.

  • Present a high profile role within the organisation always displaying a positive attitude and offering constructive input as required

  • Provides the experience and ability to manage projects/program assignments, as applicable, by serving as project or program leader/director as business opportunities arise.

  • Maintain positive, strong working relationships with clients, vendors and staff.

  • Act as a therapeutic specialist / Clinical Operations strategist /Key Operations Lead in the development of proposals and in Bid-Defence preparation and presentations

Performance – Personal Effectiveness, Commercial Awareness, Robust Thinking

  • Liaise and takes the lead with other departments/managers to improve the effectiveness of the organization

  • Effectively manage change within department/company in a positive manner

  • Initiate or lead multiple company and or departmental initiatives

  • Ensure oversight of the quality specification(s) within department

  • Observe all local applicable laws and regulations of the state/country and inform senior management immediately of any possible deviations or potential issues, as applicable

  • Manage complex assignments in a variety of areas of responsibilities, simultaneously.

  • Ensure appropriate project(s) profitability inclusive of optimising staff utilisation/recovery

  • Control and delivery of target budget for office/region, as applicable

  • Ensure office/regional finances (equipment, services, payroll and contracts’ administration, salary, office leases, etc.) are within target budget with appropriate communication to Senior Management as applicable

  • Appropriately tracks, assesses and manages the departmental metrics as applied by the department and or company

  • Assesses and assists managers with study and departmental metrics, as applicable

  • Ability and willingness to travel approx. 25%-50% of the time (international and domestic).

  • Other duties as assigned
