GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

The Head Football Coach is responsible for building, recruiting and maintaining a competitive football program on the Raymond Campus consistent with all of the goals of Hinds Community College and the policies and procedures outlined in the Athletic Department Handbook.

Education: Bachelor’s required; master’s degree preferred

Experience: 8-10 years of competitive college coaching experience.

Certificate/License: Familiar with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 8-10 years of competitive college coaching experience, five of which preferably as Head Coach, within the MACCC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES , not limited to the following but may include:

Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

  • Adhere to Hinds Community College, MACCC, and NJCAA policies and procedures

  • Under general supervision, the head coach will plan, organize and direct all activities, duties, and responsibilities of their respective program.

  • Prepare for all aspects of the season, including organize practice schedules and assist in the preparation of the season schedule, budgeting, travel, meals, strength and conditioning, and consulting on equipment purchases.

  • Conducts meetings with offensive and defensive staff to develop overall team strategy

  • Promote leadership in all aspects of the program which include the direction of all assistant coaches and other personnel associated with the program.

  • Participate in professional assignments including committee membership and other related activities.

  • Actively fundraise and support the development and cultivation of a robust alumni network.

  • Organize and execute an aggressive recruiting program of in-district high school student-athletes.

  • Coordinate with Sports Information Director and Marketing on all collateral material, social media marketing, promotions, and public speaking engagements.

  • Develops substitution game plan with staff and prepares daily and weekly depth chart with staff.

  • Coordinates the coaching staff and assists the players with academic matters with Compliance Coordinator and Student Success Center Staff.

  • Reviews academic reports from academic advising office. Helps monitor academic eligibility. Contacts student athletes who need summer credits & meet with academic advisor for mid-term and final grade reports.

  • Provide encouragement and support to student-athletes, administer appropriate discipline and, if necessary, dismiss players for misconduct.

  • Keeps players and staff notified and up-to-date information of all important academic events.

  • Recruits local area by travel, phone, mail and electronic communication.

  • Recruits out of state/area via travel, phone, mail and electronic communications.

  • Hosts and tour prospects and parents for visits.

  • Compiles list of potential recruits and monitors their admissions status

  • Attend staff meetings, conference meetings, state meetings, and coaching clinics.

  • Assists athletic department with annual fundraising

  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Athletic Director
