Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Manager, Global Portfolio Communications - Oncology. This position is set to be located in either our Spring House, PA or Raritan, NJ office.

The Communications Manager provides world-class support for the Global Oncology & R&D team and coordinates the delivery of in-market product portfolio and pipeline support activities for the dynamic and growing Oncology TA / Solid Tumors. They support the planning and implementation of external and internal communications plans and stakeholder activation strategies for disease areas of focus (lung cancer, bladder cancer and prostate cancer). Serving as a key contributor to the Global Oncology & R&D Communication team, this position also coordinates with the Global Oncology Communication team and global TA business partners to plan and implement internal communications and workforce activation activities to engage and inspire TA employees, GCSO and 1,000 partners from global, regional and local functions.

This role aligns with the regional and local businesses (commercial), supply chain, corporate J&J Innovative Medicine Communications & Public Affairs functions and drives strategic TA, R&D, Sector, J&J Innovation and Enterprise values.

Key Responsibilities:

External Communications:

Helps foster business growth and stakeholder trust/advocacy by supporting and implementing effective external global communication strategies (approx. 50% of time)

  • Supports the implementation of integrated communication activities for Solid Tumors R&D and the global product business

  • Develops a broad understanding of the business, competitive and industry priorities to strengthen business and reputation outcomes, support scientific positioning and issues management, and help shape the environment for the TA’s medicines and solutions

  • Helps drive business outcomes by identifying and applying insights-driven analytics

  • Supports key TA communication activities through planning, content development and tactical execution

  • Supports media engagement through the development of narratives and message maps

  • Builds and implements social media activation activities

  • Demonstrates excellence in proactive global monitoring and analysis of product and TA related issues that may impact partner trust and company reputation

  • Collaborates with regional communication leaders to ensure alignment on strategies and messaging

  • Aligns with the regional and local businesses (commercial), supply chain, MedTech, and corporate J&J Innovative Medicine Communication & Public Affairs functions

  • Develops strong relationships with communication and business teams and acts as trusted enabler and executor of projects to create long-term business value for the TA, R&D, Sector and Enterprise

  • Helps drive meaningful business outcomes for the TA, R&D, Sector and Enterprise, based on robust understanding of the business and reliable project execution

Internal Communications for Oncology:

Drives employee engagement and advocacy by supporting effective workforce communication and leading with a One Team mentality (30%)

  • Leads the implementation of workforce activation to engage and inspire TA and GCSO employees and 1,200 partners from global, regional and local functions

  • Partners closely with relevant TA business partners, HR, and others to ensure integrated, seamless, consistent Enterprise-wide workforce communication

  • Drives outcomes and engagement by applying a measurement approach to organizational communication, incorporate relevant metrics that are indicators of employee engagement, and strengthen strategies and tactics according to these findings

  • Models and inspires a continuous improvement mindset to ensure the team stays on the forefront of communications, change management, technology, social and other key trends

  • Develops and applies superior written, oral and visual communications in a variety of styles and formats

  • Promotes diversity and inclusion at all times

  • Shows curiosity and volunteers for project work to develop skills and increase exposure

  • Proactively anticipates issues and finds opportunities

Operational Portfolio Management for Oncology Communications (20%)

  • Manages planning and critical operational aspects for the Global Oncology Communications team (trackers, pipeline overviews, plans, charts, etc.)

  • Liaises with TA business partners and PR agencies for coordination

  • Plans and coordinates events with appropriate follow up and impact assessment(s)

Qualifications

Education:

  • BA or advanced degree preferred

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven self-starter and performer with 4 years of experience managing communication in a healthcare-related company/field, NGO, government or public relations agency; proven track record of successful, independent execution of public relations/communications, corporate communication, science communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations strategies

  • Global attitude and successful track record of working in a global or regional function, with direct experience of implementing international projects, and of competent internal and external partner interactions on an international basis

  • Demonstrated knowledge of R&D processes and the global landscape and key issues for biopharmaceutical science and innovation

  • Demonstrated ability to support communication and business leaders and project teams

  • Demonstrated ability to build authentic relationships and trust with internal and external partners

  • Experience dealing with media including social media

  • Reliable and efficient project execution and strong organizer, analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global, diverse matrix/remote environment

  • Exercise a high level of confidence and independent judgment in regular business situations

The base pay range for this position is $97,000- $166,750.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
