CNC Machinist Job Description

Job Overview Creative Composites has an opening for a full-time CNC machine operator for a person with excellent hands-on mechanical ability and a familiarity with online & off-line CNC programming. Dependability, adaptability, professionalism, and good work ethic are a must. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating CNC machinery, interpreting blueprints, and utilizing various tools and techniques to produce high-quality components. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Position will include operating CNC VMCs, CNC Turning Center, 5-axis waterjet & 5-axis router to create parts made out of Aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, Kevlar, fiberglass, and other materials.
  • Person will be responsible for assistance with tooling design, tooling fabrication, process development and part manufacturing, etc.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand project requirements.
  • Set up tooling and fixtures for machining processes.
  • Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for quality control and inspection of finished products.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure precision in machining.
  • Maintain equipment by performing regular inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Must be capable of navigating a PC in a Windows-based environment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with tooling setup and operation of CNC equipment.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices.
  • Proficient in CAD software for design interpretation.
  • Ability to work with various power tools safely and effectively.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
