Minimum Education and Skills
Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Two years’ experience in health service administration.
Drivers license for 1+ year

Job Title: Health Services Manager Department: Health Services Title of Immediate Supervisor: Chief Operating Officer – Child Welfare POSITION SUMMARY: The Health Services Manager is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Health Services Department and the delivery of health and psychiatric services for youth ensuring the health-related needs of youth are met and provides the direct supervision of the health care team to include the nurse, health services assistant, and other staff when engaged in providing health related services. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 1. Confers with and assists the Medical Director in formulating medical policies as required by the New York State Department of Social Services and other regulatory and accrediting bodies. 2. Provides leadership for health services staff to include the nurses and the health services assistant. 3. Supervises the health services staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws to include: interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems. 4. Responsible for medication management and ensure compliance with the medication administration certification of unlicensed staff responsible for assisting of youth with the administration of medication. 5. Ensure maintenance of accurate and complete healthcare records for all youth, to include the electronic health record. 6. Evaluates and maintains youth immunization records. 7. Make recommendations regarding the physical environment when it is necessary to maintain optimum health and safety standards for all youth and employees. 8. On-call for health-related concerns and provides triage/recommendations for staff. 9. Maintains current First Aid/CPR certification as provided by Agency. 10. Reports Child Abuse and Maltreatment as required by law and agency policy. 11. Assists supervisor in development of health-related policies. 12. Serves as a member of the agency Incident Review Committee. 13. Provides in-service education for staff when indicated and provides any needed training to unlicensed employees regarding health- related activities. 14. Responsible for contracting with community based medical providers for services for youth. 15. Carries out all functions in the RN or LPN job descriptions in the event that these positions are vacant. 16. Responsible for management and ensure compliance of operating certificates and required clinic internal audits required under Article 29-I (ex: CLIA, VFC, Controlled Substance). 17. Maintains professional development through self-directed professional growth activities. 18. Provides new employee orientation. 19. Attends all mandatory in-service trainings and supervision meetings. 20. Takes responsibility for professional growth through participation with in-service training designed to extend and upgrade the nurse’s performance of the duties. 21. Responsible for the typical responsibilities/duties of the RN/LPN job description. 22. Complies with the agency Corporate Compliance policy. 23. Attends all mandatory in-service training and regularly attends supervision meetings. 24. Maintains professional development through self-directed professional grown activities. 25. All other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Education and/or Professional Qualifications/Skills Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health related field preferred. Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse. Two years’ experience in health service administration. Previous experience in pediatric settings is helpful.
