Air Education and Training Command Maintenance Worker in Randolph AFB, Texas

Summary This position will be assigned to JBSA Canyon Lake, TX. This is a flexible category position with no guaranteed hours, may work up to 40 hrs./wk. Scheduled as needed. Employees appointed to a flexible (intermittent) category position are not eligible for benefits. Requires occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs either alone or with help from coworkers. This position works an uncommon tour of duty including weekends, evenings and holidays. Responsibilities The function of this position is to provide quality lodging facilities for patrons of Joint Base San Antonio Canyon Lake Recreation Facility. The area of responsibility consists of 6 cabins, 33 cottages, 25 shelters, and 17 RV trailers The purpose of this position is to preform general inspection and maintenance repair tasks and upkeep of buildings, furniture, appliances and equipment and maintenance within the Canyon Lake Recreation Area. Responsible for upkeep to lodging facilities by performing daily assessments on maintenance of facilities. Assesses customer complaints as to broken or non-working functions of the lodging facility such as plumbing repairs which may require removal of older fixtures and replacement with newer or repair broken tile or pipe, leaky drains. Caulk and seal plumbing elbows, joints and pipes, faucets and shower drains, toilet and water heater repairs. Repair of kitchen appliances. Able to repair and or replace Air conditioning units. Assesses building interior and exterior structures for any required minor construction and repair on existing structures. Installs and or repairs exterior and interior fixtures of equipment, furnishings and interior structure components such as doors, windows, mirrors, flooring, outdoor decks, blinds, etc. Assess and replaces or repairs minor electrical by replacing fixtures, switches, socket bulbs and fluorescent fixtures and minor television, VCR/DVD, radio repairs and replacing remotes. Ground maintenance responsibility requires upkeep and or construct of firepits, campsite clearing, grounds near lodging maintenance. Vehicle maintenance for minor repairs and upkeep. Maintains, inspects and performs minor repairs on rental inventory items such as; outboard motors, boats, travel trailers, boat trailers, camping equipment and gardening equipment. Accomplish minor repairs by cleaning, adjusting or replacing defective parts of components and systems. Performs routine maintenance on motors and motorized equipment by replacement or substitution. Visually checks for worn, dirty or damages parts when major equipment repair is necessary, or for replacement parts, in a timely manner. Instruct patrons on the correct operation of equipment at time of issue. Performs routine preventative maintenance on boats, camper trailers, A TV's and gardening equipment. Keeps all equipment clean and staged for rental. May operate a government vehicle to include light truck, sedan, golf car, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Requires previous experience or training on maintaining small engines/gas powered equipment. Must have knowledge of carpentry to measure, cut, construct, install, repair and modify wood, composite, and wood substitute items. Must be able to design and construct and install according to specifications. Must be skilled in various use and operation of hand and power tools such as hammers, hand awls, drills, planes, routers, screwdrivers, power nailers and fasteners, glue guns, metal shears, power saws, power sanders and planes. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of carpentry 2. Ability to design and construct and install according to specifications. 3.
