We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in the Rancho Cucamonga area. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing general accounting, sales accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary controls for two subsidiary locations. This role entails providing financial leadership in the implementation of business strategies and operating plans to ensure fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness. Would also consider a strong Sr. Accountant with strong GAAP and ready for this next step. This is for a local division of a large, stable, publicly-traded company.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting processes, ensuring adherence to generally accepted accounting procedures

• Lead forecasting and strategic/annual plan process for the sales organization and cost center

• Review capital assets and operating budgets, checking appropriation requests against approved budgets prior to commitment

• Drive projects to improve performance and create accounting processes and controls in a dynamic business environment

• Collaborate with the Purchasing, Production and Warehouse team on inventory related issues

• Maintain accurate cost data within the ERP system

• Interpret financial data and make appropriate recommendations to management about financial matters

• Calculate year over year price earned on customers and products

• Evaluate financial processes and controls; integrate into the existing controls framework

• Continually evaluate departmental functions, practices, and controls to identify opportunities for improvement

• Ensure consistent, reliable, and timely information is distributed to all financial statement users

• Prepare and post journal entries during acquisitions and post implementation

• Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of all accounting policies, financial systems, processes, and controls.

The successful candidate should have skills such as the use of QuickBooks, Accounting Software Systems like SAP, ADP - Financial Statements, Fixed Assets, ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning, Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Budget Processes, Costing, Inventory Compliance, and Finance.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Accounting or Finance

• Five (5+) years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX or internal controls exposure a plus but now required

• Experience in managing Budget Processes

• Strong understanding of Compliance and Finance principles

• Ability to handle CapEx calculations and decisions

• Prior experience as a Sr. Accountant or Assistant Controller or similar role is preferred

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Strong analytical and strategic planning skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

ERP exposure to SAP or QuickBooks is a distinct plus. Advanced Excel expected.
