Sylvan Learning Center Program Manager in Rancho Cucamonga, California

Tutoring Program Manager General Summary Manages the day-to-day operation of the “Sylvan” Tutoring program in one or more sites.  Duties include P&L controls, staffing and curriculum delivery.  Depending on the needs of the site, the major focus of responsibility may vary (for example, management, administration, instruction, etc.).   Essential Job Functions * Hires, trains, schedules and manages staff. * Establishes, communicates and meets goals of program. * Manages program onsite or oversees an onsite lead instructor. * Conducts marketing and public relations activities to support the program. * Attends provider conferences and parent fairs. * Responds to parent inquiry calls (along with lead teachers). * Executes and/or coordinates enrollment confirmation calls (along with teachers). * Manages and coordinates the assessment process for enrolled students by administering/scoring the assessment for each student; uses the scoring software and places students in the appropriate groups. * Establishes and implements processes to acquire, organize and store class materials. * Manages the “Ace it!” Tutoring rewards program. * Establishes processes and resources to provide snacks to site and classes. * Establishes/maintains relationships with school staff and parent/teacher organizations. * Ensures that program sites maintain a professional appearance and meet health and safety requirements. * Reviews the accuracy and timeliness of all data entry completed by the teachers. * Enters employee data in the database. * Facilitates program staff meetings. * Coaches and observes program staff. * Serves as back-up program teacher. * Supervises all sites.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required A B.A. degree is required and a teaching certificate is strongly recommended.  Previous educational experience is highly desired.  Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills and the ability to build relationships are required.  Must be customer service oriented and computer literate.  Must be able to calculate figures and amounts; read, analyze and interpret business reports/statistics; and write reports and business correspondence.  Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
