The position offers the opportunity to take on project management and technical leadership responsibilities and be on the cutting edge of technology applied in the remediation industry including high resolution site characterization (HRSC), remediation system design, risk-based corrective action, stratigraphic analysis, etc.
The Staff Geologist will be part of an experienced team working on site investigation and remediation projects for clients in a variety of sectors (e.g., federal, private industry, chem/pharma, utility) and will generally perform the following duties:
Prepare environmental investigation work plans, reports, feasibility studies, etc.
Perform project and task management duties on contaminated site projects.
Manage subcontractors, contracting, project scheduling, and execution of field activities.
Execute and guide environmental site assessments, including subsurface soil and groundwater sampling, indoor air monitoring, monitoring well installation, soil logging, etc.
Assist in remediation system design, implementation, and performance tracking.
Work closely with project teams and field personnel to complete projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
Onboard and develop junior staff in office and field tasks

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field from an accredited program.
Professional Geologist (PG) license or plans to obtain one.
Minimum of 4 years of related professional experience required (6 years strongly preferred) completing environmental investigations, analyzing investigation data, preparing environmental reports, etc. At least 2 years of experience predominantly supporting office tasks (project planning and execution, project/task management, technical writing). Previous consulting experience is a plus.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (and annual updates).
Experience providing environmental consulting services for clients with contaminated sites, including site investigation, remediation, and technical writing.
Firm understanding and working knowledge of applicable State (NC, SC, VA) and Federal regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
Self-motivation and the ability to multi-task (write reports, analyze data, manage staff and projects).
