Red Hat Software Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a talented and versatile Software Engineer.

Our mission is to deliver a next generation platform for building, testing and releasing artifacts to deliver Red Hat products and services using open hybrid cloud technologies while focusing on innovation and security.

In this role, you will be instrumental in developing the next-gen productization pipeline, optimizing our systems, and ensuring a seamless user experience in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

This position requires a proactive problem solver who is passionate about delivering high-quality solutions and continuously improving our systems.

You will work with Red Hat’s latest open source technologies, such as Kubernetes, Tekton, ArgoCD, Terraform and Openshift. You will also work closely with Red Hat’s leading product development teams, QE, SRE, product management, and other stakeholders worldwide, working with a stable team in an agile environment to deliver services for Red Hat teams and customers.

What you will do:

  • Design, develop, and implement new features based on evolving business requirements.

  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve software defects in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that all code changes maintain or improve system stability and performance.

  • Assist users by troubleshooting issues and providing technical support when needed.

  • Gather user feedback and suggest improvements to enhance user experience.

  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and scalability.

  • Conduct code reviews and refactor existing code to maintain code quality and performance.

  • Deploy changes to staging and production environments following established processes and best practices.

  • Collaborate with DevOps to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software in production.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team.

  • Contribute to the improvement of internal processes, tools, and standards.

  • Work with open source communities such as Tekton and Kubernetes and submitting code in these upstream communities for review

  • Work in a global team, including teams in EMEA, NA, and possibly APAC

  • Work with developers, quality assurance, PMs, SRE and customers

What you will bring:

  • Ability to work with new and fast-changing technologies with a high level of uncertainty, reacting to changes in requirements quickly

  • Ability to work on-site or Hybrid in Raleigh NC

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer science or equivalent working experience

  • At least 2 years of experience writing code in Golang or Python

  • Experience working on shared codebases using source control management (SCM) systems like GitHub or GitLab

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Experience working with Linux as a developer

  • Experience building and running containerized applications and controllers

The following is considered a plus

  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS) and microservices architecture.

  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience working in an agile development team.

  • Experience in Terraform

  • Experience in Tekton or ArgoCD

  • Experience building CICD pipelines

  • Experience in Observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk

  • Experience with building & debugging applications on Kubernetes clusters

  • Experience in Open Source development

  • Experience defining requirements and between application components

  • Experience in DevSecOps or Product Security

  • Experience with Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM) operators

The salary range for this position is $90,480.00 - $144,660.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
