Red Hat Senior Software Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina
Job Summary:
The Red Hat Experience Engineering (XE) team is looking for a skilled and well-rounded Senior Software Engineer with excellent programming skills, DevOps skills, and the ability to partner with internal stakeholders to join our team in Raleigh. On this team, you will help build, deploy, maintain, and monitor AI and ML application services. This includes managing AI/ML models and assisting data scientists in training new models.
To be successful in this role, you should have an established set of foundational skills and the ability to learn new skills quickly as we modernize platforms and tooling. You must also be able to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. You will be accountable for implementing, deploying, and maintaining services (e.g., microservice APIs) in Red Hat OpenShift.
You will have an interest and experience in AI/ML solutions, experience collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams, and have demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders to deliver impactful, innovative solutions.
What you will do:
Work closely with team members and stakeholders to turn business problems into analytical projects, translated requirements, and solutions
Design, develop, test, debug, deploy and maintain application microservices for AI initiatives
Work cross-functionally with teams on API development to support AI based applications
Work with data scientists to deploy, train and test AI models
Manage deployment of models
Monitor critical back-end services running in the cloud and in OpenShift clusters
Recommend ways to improve system reliability, efficiency, and quality
Help create, maintain, and implement tools, libraries, and systems to increase the efficiency and scalability of the team
Develop and maintain proper controls and compliance requirements
Work with data engineers to assist in model creation data sets and routine model retraining
Consult and assist consumers of XE AI service APIs
What you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science or Software Engineering) with 5+ years of relevant working experience or Masters degree with 3+ years of working experience
Proficient Python programming skills with experience creating web-based API endpoints
Experience building RESTful APIs or gRPC services for ML model deployment
Ability to critically analyze requirements and designs, leveraging hypothesis testing to validate decisions
Problem solve and to test and implement new technologies and tools
Detect the source and resolution of highly complex problems
OpenShift application development and administration
Proficiency in TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, XGBoost or Hugging Face Transformers
Experience with Linux system administration, shell scripting, and virtualization technology (containers)
Mastery of git (version control) and experience with versioning, merge request, review, etc. processes and techniques
The following will be considered a plus:
Experience deploying applications using PaaS technologies (e.g,. OpenShift, Airflow)
Experience with transformermodels, BERT, Granite, GPT, or Llama for text processing and generative AI
Experience with API frameworks such as FastAPI
Experience with Python-based analysis frameworks such as Pandas

The salary range for this position is $111,260.00 - $183,580.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
