Ally is seeking a Senior AWS API Engineer to provide thought leadership within Ally's enterprise messaging platform development space. The ideal candidate is a confident decision maker and self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial-minded environment; they also bring a growth mindset and awareness of emerging/disruptive technologies.

This Senior AWS API Engineer will contribute to an extremely engineering-focused organization. The contributions will have a noticeable impact on Ally’s Enterprise platform and will be involved in efforts for continuous improvement to increase and ensure the reliability of the platform. They will get broad exposure to our full stack, consisting of forward-looking technologies around messaging platforms, AWS, and Infrastructure Automation.

The Work Itself

  • Collaborate with other developers and provide significant contributions to develop specifications to build enterprise event platform in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
  • Craft code that meets our internal standards for reusability, style, maintainability, and secure standard processes. Maintain and advocate for these standards in code reviews.
  • Tackle technical problems of high scope and complexity
  • Actively collaborate with Scrum Master, POs, manager, and lead engineer to iterate on new features; participate in the refinement of Epics, Stories, and Tasks
  • Employ a shift-left approach to test and a design-first approach to APIs
  • Ensure completion and review of required documentation; lead T2S activities and related tasks to participate in release governance activities
  • Serve as a mentor for other specialists and peers to help them grow in their technical responsibilities and remove blockers

The Skills You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience as an API (Java) engineer with Cloud exposure (AWS); hands-on experience creating and consuming RESTful API Services on AWS solutions, API Development, Kafka, Rabbit MQ, AWS SQS, AWS Kinesis or similar data messaging platforms
  • Experience working in customer-facing applications and understand what it means to be customer obsessed and focused on delivering results
  • Proficient in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, or equivalent frameworks
  • Ability to write effective unit, integration, and API tests
  • Experience working in multi-functional, highly collaborative, autonomous teams with Agile/Scrum practices
  • Nice to have - Infrastructure automation and provisioning tools (e.g., Terraform, Gitlab Pipeline, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related field preferred #li-hybrid

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 85000

Experienced: 117500

Expert: 150000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
