Robert Half Payroll Manager in Raleigh, North Carolina

Description

Fast growing building materials company in Raleigh is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their organization. The Payroll Manager will help exceed standards for the financial department necessary for growth and will work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies. The ideal candidate will possess 7+ years of payroll management experience, a bachelor's degree and be well versed in ADP Workforce Now. Responsibilities:

• Develop systems to process payroll account transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third-party payments.

• Handle all queries related to payroll and resolve issues efficiently.

• Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems to ensure smooth operations.

• Manage payroll tax audits and liaise with auditors, ensuring compliance with all tax-related tasks, such as preparing W2 forms and updating policies.

• Collaborate with accounting and Human Resources (HR) teams to facilitate integrated business operations.

• Oversee processing of payroll changes, such as new hires, terminations, raises, and system upgrades.

• Coach and supervise payroll assistants and clerks, fostering a team-oriented environment.

• Create reports and ensure the accuracy of records, contributing to the company's transparency and accountability.

• Adhere to relevant laws and internal policies to maintain the company's reputation and legal standing.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in multi-state payroll

• Experience in payroll for over 500 employees

• Experience in bi-weekly payroll processing

• Knowledge of payroll taxes

• Experience in handling payroll garnishments

• Ability to process garnishments

• Experience in month-end close

• Ability to perform bank reconciliations

• Experience in journal entries

• Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now

• Experience in software implementations

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.

Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a payroll supervisory or managerial role within the construction/contractor industry.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Demonstrated experience with multi-state payroll processing.

• Experience managing payroll for over 500 employees.

• Familiarity with processing bi-weekly payroll.

• Extensive knowledge of payroll taxes.

• Experience with payroll garnishments and processing garnishments.

• Proven ability to handle month-end close, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Experience with ADP Workforce Now.

• Experience in software implementations related to payroll systems.

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is preferred.
