Huntington National Bank Commercial Portfolio Manager - Renewable Energy Finance (REF) in Raleigh, North Carolina

Summary: The Renewable Energy Finance (REF) team at Huntington Bank originates project finance and non-recourse transactions for renewable energy facilities. This line of business is primarily focused on tax equity transactions in the renewables sector including wind, solar, storage and other forms of renewable investment.

The REF team is seeking a talented and ambitious Commercial Portfolio Manager to support the Renewable Energy Underwriting and Portfolio Management team. The Underwriting and Portfolio Management organization works with internal partners to underwrite new transactions and manage the existing portfolio of loans, supporting the Commercial Bank’s growth while ensuring we have a scalable, well-managed business.

Working closely with the origination team, clients, Relationship Manager, and Credit Department, the Commercial Portfolio Manager will review and analyze financial statement/engineering reports, help structure the transaction, assess credit risk, prepare deal screen presentations, write credit approval memorandums, present recommendations to credit committee, and assist with, monitor and manage the credit portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for financial modeling and analysis, identifying key risks, assisting senior bankers with loan structuring and pricing, preparing extensive written credit analysis, and assisting with credit presentations.

  • Provides analytical, underwriting and marketing support during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities.

  • Reviews loan documentation and due diligence materials.

  • Applies all applicable credit policies and internal processes for the execution and funding of new transactions.

  • Develops relationships and credibility with key internal constituents.

  • Supports primary Portfolio Managers in maintaining accurate risk ratings, executing amendments, preparing monitoring materials and other tasks and administrative items; may assist with the training, development, and work review of analysts.

  • Assists in annual review process as needed, making recommendations to risk ratings in accordance with credit policy guidelines.

  • Monitors and evaluates ongoing compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements.

  • Maintains good working knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies and procedures and identifies exceptions to credit policy.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics with at least two courses in accounting required.

  • 2 - 4 years’ experience in an underwriting or commercial banking environment with a focus on project finance transactions in power and infrastructure projects; competence in financial modeling.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly motivated with ability to excel in a team or individual work environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation Range:

$110,000 - $130,000 Annual Salary

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.  Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.  In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
