Job Overview

We are looking for a VP of Software Engineering to establish, scale, and lead our India-based engineering teams. This role will drive technical strategy, innovation, and execution while collaborating with global stakeholders to ensure seamless alignment with company objectives. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, experience managing large engineering teams, and the ability to foster a high-performance culture. Reporting to the SVP, Engineering, this leader will operate with full ownership over the engineering delivery in India and will be responsible for ensuring clear, transparent communication and collaboration across geographies. The VP will need to ensure alignment between the India and US teams, while maintaining high standards of quality, accountability, productivity and transparency throughout the organization. We are seeking a highly communicative and visionary leader who can inspire teams, build strong cross-functional relationships and ensure consistent engineering practices to drive impactful results.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Leadership:

  • Build and scale the India engineering organization to support global technology initiatives.

  • Develop and execute a technology roadmap that aligns with business and product goals.

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, collaborating across product, design, and business functions.

  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with the executive engineering leadership to establish the vision and strategy to drive world class excellence within the India engineering teams.

  • Drive results that are specifically targeted to the customer base. Lead process and delivery outcomes with corporate planning, services and product engineering teams.

  • Develop and communicate a clear technical vision and strategic direction to the iCIMS Engineering organization focused on high quality product delivery and innovation.

  • Build an empowered engineering culture of continuous improvement and feedback by fostering psychological safety and inclusivity through all interactions and processes

  • Team Development and Management:

  • Manages all aspects of performance and development of direct reports and provides situational leadership to a high performing team to encourage engagement and professional growth

  • Partner with Talent team on the acquisition and retention of people resources to fulfill team mission successfully; own the selection process and empower decisions by your leadership team.

  • Ensure a fun, dynamic work environment & build merit-based culture which appeals to the top talent in the field

  • Lead and coach the leadership team, structuring appropriate training and development and eliminating roadblocks to team performance

  • Consistently ensure that business is always conducted with integrity and that behavior aligns with iCIMS policies, procedures, and core competencies

  • Technology and Architecture:

  • Oversee the development of scalable, high-performance, and secure software solutions.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices in architecture, software development, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps.

  • Drive the adoption of modern technologies, frameworks, and engineering methodologies.

  • Lead initiatives on security, compliance, and data governance as required.

  • Operations:

  • Implement and refine engineering processes, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and agility.

  • Set and track key performance metrics (KPIs) for engineering productivity and system reliability.

  • Manage budgets, resource allocation, and vendor relationships effectively.

  • Ensure strong operational execution by providing guidance for planning and prioritization of team resources while delegating and assigning projects, duties, and objectives through the organization.

  • Partner with Agile Operations, Product Operations, Chief Architect, Cloud Hosting, utilizing iCIMS’s best practices, to meet company goals, while providing unified visibility to risk, velocity, and the ability to make change.

  • Enable the definition, implementation and ability to monitor consistent engineering practices and architectures through multiple layers of the engineering organization to ensure effective on-time delivery of roadmap.

  • Constantly improve engineering management practices to ensure consistency across teams and geographies

  • Question the status quo and ensure that all aspects of the applicable processes are optimal for the business groups and product design.

  • Identify and harvest new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards and procedures

  • Maintains a deep understanding of the current state of systems, architectures, technology stacks, development methodologies, practices, and governance models.

  • Integrate engineering organizations of acquired companies, ensuring a balance of governance and velocity to best maximize the acquired team’s ability to deliver

  • Metrics:

  • Enable the definition and improvement of engineering metrics and ability to monitor, for successful team and individual excellence aligned with the roadmap delivery schedule

  • Hold leaders and teams accountable to deliver in line with key metrics and deliverables

  • Provide reporting and metrics to Executive leadership on the progress against set Engineering strategy and objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related engineering field.

  • Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in a software product environment with a track record of succuss in a metrics-driven organization.

  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in product or application development and engineering.

  • Extensive experience leading software development in a services-based environment implementing products in a SaaS and mobile environment.

  • Ability to attract, build and retain highly engaged and high-performing engineering teams that can deliver on technical and business strategies.

  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvements in process, systems, organizational performance and efficiency, growth and career development for employees and innovation for customers.

  • Strong customer commitment and demonstrated experience establishing a “Customer Experience” culture in support of all the business functions of a fast-paced company.

  • Exceptional Project Management Skills with strong attention to detail; how to plan, set and manage to reasonable timelines, while delivering projects that align to the business strategy.

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and influence senior leaders where appropriate.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), with the proven ability to effectively translate complex ideas and tailor key messages to multiple audiences. 

  • Proven experience in scalable web application development, cross-platform integrations, API and restful web services design and development.

  • Knowledge of some or all of the tools & technologies currently in use: Java, React, Angular, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Apache Tomcat, Linux, Eclipse, Selenium 2.0 & Web Driver, git, etc.
