The Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for departmental administrative duties as designated by the Emergency Department Manager. This individual excels in the supervision and leadership of subordinates by demonstrating a strong clinical knowledge base and establishes strong support to develop effective teams to meet the performance goals of the Emergency Department. The Clinical Coordinator effectively blends management skills with technical expertise by consistently collaborating with the emergency team to ensure all required skills are applied in the delivery and continuity of care to all levels and all age groups on a shift to shift basis.
The ED Clinical Coordinator will assist with staff development and in promoting an organizational culture that fosters teamwork. The ED Clinical Coordinator demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and effectively solve conflict resolutions. He/She effectively encourages open communications with staff members to achieve mutual understandings and cooperative behavioral team efforts. In the absence of the Emergency Department manager, the ED Clinical Coordinator will assume responsibility for staffing and daily departmental operations.
In addition to the above-stated role, the ED Clinical Coordinator will also at times function in the ED Staff RN role and adhere to the below-stated standards.
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The RN assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of your own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for his/her own professional advancement. It is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. Is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. Responsible and accountable for the appropriate delegation of patient care to other members of the healthcare team. Will act in the capacity of preceptor or charge when needed. Communicates effectively and collaborates with physicians and other patient care providers. Responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. The RN as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team member utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs. Other essential duties as required.
Education/Training/Certification/Licensure:
BA/BS/BSN degree preferred.
Completion of clinical experience in an NLN accredited school is preferred.
Additional experience is required based upon specific department needs.
Current NJ RN Licensure required.
Current American Heart Association CPR/BLS is required. A national certificate is preferred.
PALS and ACLS are required. CEN preferred.
Scheduling Requirements:
Day Shift, 11A -11P
Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotation

The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
The Registered Nurse participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and an interdisciplinary team manager, who utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient s needs.
