What You Will Contribute: The Buyer serves as an Agent for the company in the purchase of raw materials, finished components, MRO supplies, tools and/or services. In addition, you will assist in analyzing and scheduling purchased materials to meet manufacturing and inventory plans for the company as required to fulfill customer on-time delivery requirements. You will work cross-functionally to research and recommend new/potential suppliers, parts, and services with emphasis on cost reduction and while maintaining product quality standards. Job Duties: * Analyze and schedule material purchases, material availability, review and set planning parameters, and issue purchase orders utilizing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. * Negotiate contracts with suppliers for material required by Company to meet customer requirements, develop and cultivate good business relations with current and potential suppliers, and engage in problem resolution on such items as defective purchases, invoice problems, order changes and cancellations, etc. * Develop on-going continuous improvement programs with major suppliers, monitor and evaluate supplier performance, evaluate and analyze supplier quotations to determine best overall value and recommend suppliers, and implement corrective action as necessary to meet company quality and performance requirements. * Plan and execute sourcing strategies and inventory programs for products and services in conjunction with cross-functional project teams. * Promote company\'s ISO quality requirements to suppliers and ensure compliance to standards for material purchases. * Establish cost standards and accounts for variance to standard. * Prepare pertinent reports advising Management of developments affecting economic changes that could impact Company performance (commodity market conditions, supplier capacity, delivery abilities to determine risks to material availability, etc). * Research, formulate, and recommend changes in company purchasing policy for approval of the Procurement Manager (in connection with quality standards, bidding procedures, supplier relations/selection, etc). Education and Experience: * Bachelor\'s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or a related field preferred * 3+ years of experience in Purchasing or a related field desired Qualifications: * Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and Business Law required * Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required * Intermediate proficiency in MRP required Competencies: * Collaboration: Work collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives. * Communication: Convey information and ideas clearly and concisely to individuals or groups in an engaging manner that helps them understand and retain the message; listen actively to others. * Initiating Action: Take prompt action to accomplish work goals; take action to achieve results beyond what is required; be proactive. * Work Standards: Setting high standards of performance for self and others; assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing assignments or tasks; self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed.
