Job Description:

We’re looking for a ADVANCED ANALYTICS MANAGER (PEOPLE LEADER) to join our Advanced Analytics and Insights team at MBPS. In this role, you are expected to lead a team of advanced analytics professionals, collaborate with business unit stakeholders to deliver value, provide technical expertise to the organization and managing internal capability building capability programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, leads, organizes activities DARE Advanced Analytics team monitoring its progress towards quality delivery and growing the team

  • As manager, regularly conducts meetings with the Advanced Analytics team, business unit stakeholders, co-managers in delivering value aligned with Manulife's strategic goals and objectives.

  • Constantly seeks opportunities to grow the capabilities of the advanced analytics team exploring new projects with onshore business, partnering with internal learning and development and external sources.

  • Coaches and mentors AA team members on their Individual Development Plan (IDP) and leads engagement activities.

  • Collaborates with peers, leaders, onshore partners (BUs) in creating an engaging, challenging, and fulfilling work environment contributing to personal growth and good data culture

  • Be a strategic partner to MBPS Global Business Service and DARE team

Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering; or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent technical experience. Familiarity and applied knowledge of GenAI/AI, reinforcement learning, an advantage.

  • Experience: At least 4-5 years of relevant experience. Generally, a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience Advanced knowledge of programming languages and concepts (e.g. Python). Expert in basic and advanced statistical tests, distributions, maximum likelihood estimators, statistical modelling techniques (regression, cluster / factor / principle components, decision tree, survival analysis, etc.). Advanced knowledge of different techniques and knowledge of machine learning algorithms. Basic knowledge of AI toolkits. Expert in data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, open source data visualization libraries - ggplot and d3.js. Advanced knowledge of common database querying languages such as SQL. Capability of applying a systematic, structured approach to explore / navigate / mine massive amount of data, structured or un-structured, to uncover hidden patterns / insights. Strong working knowledge of relational database models (e.g. data vaulting techniques, rules tables).

  • Hybrid Work Arrangement: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation)

  • Shift Schedule: Amenability to work on the assigned schedule (dependent on business need)

  • Minimum Skills to Hire/Must Haves:

  • Data science and cloud analytics using Azure

  • Machine learning using Azure ML

  • Project management using Agile / JIRA / Confluence
