Citigroup VP, Finance Reporting Lead Analyst in Queens, New York

The Finance Reporting Lead Analyst position is an integral member of the Global Regulatory and Capital Reporting (GRCR) group. This is a high profile function, providing financial information to the regulators including the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The position will have a high level of visibility within the organization with opportunities to work directly with Management on a regular basis and will also interact very closely with other groups throughout Citi, including RWA Controllers, Risk, Treasury, Controllers Transformation, and Finance & Risk Shared Services. The core responsibilities include preparation and analysis of the quarterly, semi-annual and annual Regulatory Reports required by FRB and OCC for Citigroup and Citibank entities, focusing on FR Y-15 and G-SIB calculation. Other responsibilities include earnings release, 10-Q/10-K disclosures, preparation/review of Board of Directors and Senior Management Presentations and Analyst Packages, maintenance of the global Accounting Policy Manual, internal controls on Regulatory data integrity, data quality improvement projects as well as implementation of both external and internal changes (i.e., GSIB NPR, new reporting systems, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in-depth analysis of variances for FR Y-15 report, focusing on reporting lines that impact the Global Systemically Important Banks (GSIB) surcharge calculation. Coordinate the annual GSIB Assessment.

  • Understand and review the current FR Y-15 reporting process, assess impact of the recently published GSIB NPR and implement the reporting changes when the GSIB NPR becomes final rule.

  • Keep abreast of industry, regulatory, and accounting developments. Apply solid knowledge of Finance/accounting concepts and principles to ensure accurate Regulatory Reporting filings. More specifically, review the recently published Basel III NPR and GSIB NPR to determine the impact on the regulatory filings where applicable. Continually monitor developments in the Federal Reserve Reporting Arena and assist the Citi Finance functions in implementing and meeting the reporting requirements.

  • Communicate effectively, clearly, concisely and accurately using written and verbal communications with Senior Management, Regulatory Agencies and Internal/External Auditors as well as the investor community.

  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to present complex concepts in a concise, succinct manner to all organizational levels.

  • Work and partner with multiple areas across Citi, including RWA Controllers, SEC Reporting, Treasury, Risk, Accounting Policy, Financial Planning and Analysis, Mergers & Acquisitions, Legal, and Investor Relations to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy of the report filings. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key contacts.

  • Assist in driving interpretation, change implementation, process efficiencies and continuous process improvement efforts to strengthen controls.

  • Participate in data quality improvement projects including GENESIS/U.S. Regulatory Reporting Initiative (USRRI) to strengthen controls and improve report accuracy.

  • Lead/participate in regulatory exams, internal audits and address external analysts’ questions. Maintain effective and professional relationships with regulators, internal and external auditors.

  • Lead/participate in projects and ad-hoc requests as needed due to increasing regulator demand.

  • Other responsibilities include implementing the new regulatory reporting policy, conducting thorough research and review to ensure the regulatory reporting is in conformance with regulatory requirements, and other regulatory matters, as warranted, and presenting results in a well-conceived and clear fashion.

This individual will have an opportunity to work with over 50 team members across NY and Tampa, primarily consisting of MBAs and CPAs, who are engaged with and supportive of one another and in an environment which promotes and sustains continuous development and growth.

GRCR’s mission is to provide complete and accurate consolidated financial statement analysis and other related information to the regulators, investors, outside analysts and senior management on a timely basis and in the most efficient manner possible.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience with US Bank Regulatory Reports (e.g. FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031, FR Y-15). Knowledge of FR Y-15 and GSIB Calculation is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related business field of study required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Interested in performing independent research and analysis of rules, regulations, instructions, and definitions.

  • Comfortable with US GAAP (e.g. accounting pronouncements).

  • Ability to innovate and champion process changes for efficiency and productivity.

  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented with ability to lead in a professional and challenging environment and deliver results against fast-paced deliverable deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under demanding time frames and respond appropriately and competently to the demands of work challenges when confronted with changes, ambiguity, adversity, and other pressures.

  • Outstanding presentation, communication, interpersonal and coaching skills. Ability to work with different levels of management.

  • Ability to develop effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of groups across Citi as well as external auditors and regulators.

  • Able to analyze and think through highly complex issues. Appropriately execute and implement against a well thought through framework in a seamless manner

  • Strong strategic thinking skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
