GENERAL DUTIES

Performs highly-skilled laboratory functions and other technical duties in support of coursework.

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York/CUNY. LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree and certificate programs, as well as dozens of workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 25,000 students. More than one-third of our degree-seeking students were born outside of the United States, coming to LaGuardia from 136 countries and speaking forty-three heritage languages. More than half are first-generation college students. Sixty-nine percent live in Queens; the rest live in Brooklyn and beyond. Approximately two-thirds of our degree students receive financial aid. Reporting to the Director in the Health Sciences Department, the candidate will be responsible for the operational coordination of the Radiologic Technology Program. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinates the preparation of the radiologic tech lab and assists during teaching laboratories;

  • Maintains updated program resources to support instruction; provide reviews and learning reinforcement on program specific essential skills with clinical phase students;

  • Assists with the maintenance, repair, and use of radiological equipment and technology;

  • Assists with the purchasing and inventory of supplies needed for the department;

  • Assists with compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulatory agencies as they relate to the operation of the program;

  • Maintains required records, documentations, and manuals for the program;

  • Coordinates the use of the resource room;

  • Assists with extracurricular student activities such as the Radiologic Technology Student Club as required for competency by licensing organizations for students' training eligibility in taking the licensed examination.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologist Technologist (ARRT) and New York Department of Health (NYDOH) and a years of experience working as a radiologic technician.

  • Current registration in AART and NYDOH as a radiologic technologist and a graduate of a national or regional accreditation as recognized by the ARRT.

  • Knowledge of modern computer programs; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and Blackboard.

  • Working knowledge of software, technology and accessories used in the radiologic technology field.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; the ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

  • Flexible work hours required.

COMPENSATION

$47,509 - $65,896

Commensurate with education and experience
