College Now (CN) is a comprehensive collaborative initiative of the City University of New York (CUNY) and the NYC Department of Education (NYCDOE) aimed at promoting and supporting higher academic achievement for the city's public high school students. The program involves all of the University's colleges as part of an integrated system offering college courses and college preparatory activities to high school students. Each year, the program reaches more than 21,000 students across over 480 NYC public high schools, generating 31,000 course enrollments. Its overall goal is to help students be better prepared for college-level work and enter college without the need for remediation.

Reporting to the Director of Pre-College Programs, the College Now Manager will oversee the day to day operations of the office and coordinate all operational aspects of the College Now program. The College Now Manager duties include but are not limited to:

· Manage and monitor program activities (recruitment, outreach and retention), courses, new initiatives and special projects.

· Collaborate with Admissions to establish recruitment goals.

· Recruit students to participate in College Now activities. Schedule and manage orientations and workshops. Develop and implement on-campus and virtual co-curricular events for College Now students.

· Research new programs and recommend new classes to enhance the variety of the program.

· Manage personnel including office staff, high school liaisons, college course coordinators and instructors.

· Oversee communications to partner high school principals and staff, as well as, York department chairs and faculty.

· Create programmatic schedules, staff schedules and performance appraisals; Conduct regular staff meetings and provide on-going supervision.

· Attend meetings at Central Office and communicate with the College Now Central Office; Collect and analyze data and prepare final reports for Central Office.

· Streamline the distribution of information to all personnel and students. Manage the program website and social media sites.

· Develop and perform quality control activities to ensure accuracy of data; Assist with registration of College Now and incoming students.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master's degree in counseling or related fields

· Proven supervisory experience

· Background in program development, coordination, data, and budget management experience

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Proficiency with MS Excel or other data manipulation software

· Experience in higher education, preferably in a college and urban setting

· Strong management and organizational skills with an ability to set and meet deadlines

· Detail-oriented and ability to keep accurate, and well-organized records

· Ability to be flexible and to work carefully and quickly to meet the demands of programs

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages campus College Now program operations under the direction of a senior administrator. College Now is collaborative program of the City University of New York (CUNY)/Office of Academic Affairs and the New York City Department of Education designed to prepare New York City's public high school students for college.

  • Delivers and monitors comprehensive college preparatory program including academic courses (both for high school and college credit); campus-based tours and cultural events; and exclusive scholarship offerings

  • Evaluates programming outcomes and makes recommendations to improve offerings

  • Oversees program's budget and daily administration

  • Prepares reports for management; may write grant proposals

  • Liaisons with course coordinators, college and high school faculty, and various administrators in the implementation of professional development activities

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

$73,227 - $90,375 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
