Defense Security Service IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) in Quantico, Virginia
Summary The incumbent serves as a non-supervisory IT Spec within the IT Enterprise Operations Division of the Office of Chief Information Officer. They provide oversight on the daily operations, sustainment and life-cycle management of EO IT applications, systems, and databases. They shall support projects associated with the maintenance, deployment, and cyber hygiene of systems in line with DoD8510.01 RMF. Incumbent shall help to develop processes and procedures and identify project interdependencies. Responsibilities As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN) you will be responsible for the following duties: Plan, coordinate, and manage IT projects to meet DoD objectives and ensure project timelines, resources, and milestones align with mission needs. Oversee the entire lifecycle of IT systems and applications, from initial deployment through maintenance, upgrades and decommissioning. Identify and mitigate project risks and ensure compliance with DoD standards and Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements at every stage of the project. Maintain strong communication with stakeholders and deliver regular status updates to keep all parties informed and aligned with project goals. Allocate and manage project resources, including personnel and budgets, to meet milestones efficiently and within fiscal constraints. Track project progress, quickly address deviations from plan and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule. Lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration to ensure quality results and timely project completion for a diverse range of technical platforms, including virtual machine (VM), Microsoft (MS), Oracle, SQL and MySQL environments Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened from the Office of Personnel Management's (OPMs) basic qualifications requirements. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade (GS/GG-12) in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Developing detailed project plans, setting timelines, and coordinating resources to ensure project alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery; managing the entire life-cycle of IT systems, from planning and deployment through maintenance, upgrades and decommissioning. Identifying, analyzing and mitigating risks with a focus on compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and DoD security standards. Strong communication skills to provide clear project updates, manage expectations and ensure alignment between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Managing transitions and adapting plans based on project needs, ensuring minimal disruption to project objectives. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Information Technology Program Management (PPMGT) - Management of information technology programs. 2. IT Project Management (PPMGT) - Execute an information technology project from initiation to sustainment to fulfill established requirements that meet specified business missions. 3. Information Technology Lifecycle Management - Plan, develop and/or manage processes across the information systems/services life cycle to ensure Information Technology capabilities meet current and future organizational and enterprise missions. 4.Risk Management Framework (RMF) - Unified Information security framework for the entire federal government.
