Quakertown Community School District Maintenance Building Leader in Quakertown, Pennsylvania
This employer will be on-site conducting interviews at our Multi-Industry Job & Community Resource Fair which will be held on Thursday September 12, 2024, at the Bucks County Free Library, 401 W. Mill Street, Quakertown, PA 18951. The Job Fair hours are 9:30 AM -- 12:00 PM. The Maintenance -- Building Floater is responsible for the ownership of the physical condition of the building, including daily operation, regular and preventative maintenance, and cleanliness. The Maintenance-Building Floater is charged with maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning building that provides a safe and healthy learning environment for students and staff.
Building Ownership:
- Responsible for the daily operation of the building, including opening the building and routine inspections of equipment, systems, building condition, and grounds.
- Provides oversight and daily direction to custodial staff assigned to the building to insure a safe, clean, and well-functioning building.
- Responsible for building safety, including clearing fire exits, checking safety devices, and proper storage of combustible materials and similar.
- Responds as trained to any school emergency (24/7).
- Utilizes electronic systems for work orders, facility scheduling, HVAC scheduling, and similar.
- Ensures the building is prepared for events as needed.
- Works with the Supervisor of Maintenance to schedule work order completion.
- Works with the Supervisor of Maintenance to plan work for summer and holiday breaks.
- Maintains equipment certification files for elevators, pressure vessels, heating equipment, etc.
Ensures adequate school supplies are on hand.
Maintenance:
Fixes or arranges for repair of all safety hazards and equipment damage/malfunctions (e.g. broken windows, loose steps, open holes, broken stakes, faulty electrical items, etc.).
- Operates HVAC, burglar alarms and fire alarm systems in accordance with instructions.
- Maintains plumbing fixtures and drains.
- Performs minor electrical work, such as replacing switches, receptacles, bulbs and ballasts, and small motor replacement and similar.
- Performs general carpentry work, such as painting and patching drywall, and floor tile replacements.
- Performs preventative maintenance on building equipment.
Assembles furniture and items as needed and repairs items as required.
Custodial Services:
Performs cleaning to building areas as needed to maintain proper building condition.
- Responds to urgent clean-up needs during the school day.
- Oversees and participates in snow removal.
- Performs grounds maintenance.
- Receives, unloads, and stocks school supplies.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance and Principal.
COURIER PORTION OF THE DAY
Pick up district mail and parcels and deliver items to destinations on a predetermined route that includes the post office.
- Delivers money to the bank.
- Makes pick-ups and deliveries for the Food Service Department as needed.
- Delivers supplies from warehouse to schools.
- Delivers materials to Board Members as needed.
- Responds to any school emergency within the scope of his/her ability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver's license with goo driving record.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic math skills.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Ability to pass a district written and physical test. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
