Cummins Inc. Supply Planning Coordinator - Level II in Pune, India

DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Supply Planning Coordinator determines the quantity and order date for materials needed to meet the master production schedule or independent customer demand. The role involves expediting purchase or production orders as appropriate and managing global stakeholders effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):

  • Report any work-related injury, illness, incident, or hazard.

  • Comply with HSE standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Engage in HSE training.

  • Quality:

  • Follow applicable standard work, process documentation, and quality procedures.

  • Perform quality checks on material planning master data (lead time, order quantities, etc.) to support Plan for Every Part (PFEP).

  • Work with Quality to disposition non-conforming material promptly.

  • Delivery:

  • Initiate purchase and work orders to support the demand plan.

  • Participate in allocation calls with Sourcing Managers, suppliers, and other Cummins entities to understand constraints.

  • Work with suppliers to reduce lead time and order quantities, balancing supply with demand.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Planners to reposition excess inventory to locations with supporting demand.

  • Provide accurate, timely updates on inventory availability and back-order recovery plans.

  • Manage part change requests and ramp-up/ramp-down activities to meet demand while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

  • Reconcile order boards for critical suppliers, critical parts, and past due orders regularly.

  • Support the Deliver Supplier Improvement Process initiative to improve performance metrics.

  • Document, communicate, and follow up on action items impacting the ability to execute the plan.

  • Take ownership and accountability for delivering supplier schedules that support customer needs.

  • Remain flexible and perform other miscellaneous duties as required to meet business goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Materials Planning System Utilization: Use the materials planning system to manage supply and demand plans, take long-term corrective action on exception messages and other alerts based on root cause analysis. Occasionally use ad hoc tools such as Excel, Access, TOAD, OMS, etc., for problem-solving while leveraging the materials planning system as the primary tool in day-to-day operations.

  • Part Change Control Management: Evaluate and implement engineering change requests (obsolescence, supersessions, new part release, etc.) to meet customer delivery requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.

  • Plan for Every Part (PFEP): Use PFEP in planning, designing, and managing systems and processes within a facility to ensure the delivery of the right part at the right time in the right quantity to the right place, ensuring smooth operations. Apply PFEP principles to the end-to-end supply chain, with particular attention to the relationships between master data management, materials planning parameters, engineered material flows, transport management, and warehouse management.

  • Master Supply Scheduling: Establish and maintain a valid Master Production Schedule for a family of products, meeting customer expectations and requirements while maximizing operational efficiency. Validate procurement scheduling, production scheduling, and replenishment planning to ensure alignment with manufacturing and assembly assets for conversion.

  • Materials KPI Management: Operate in relation to recent or historical outputs as compared to organizational expectations to determine next steps to drive improvement. Assess gaps in supply chain performance against the expectation of achieving target deliverables. Interpret KPIs to understand end-customer impact and strategically balance trade-offs to influence one KPI while minimizing the impact on others.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • Licensing: This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
