Citigroup Senior Business Analyst -Modern Data Engineering in Pune, India
We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst with a proven track record in leading data-driven projects within the Capital Markets domain. This role will involve working on large-scale big data lake projects, where you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing data control processes, ensuring data accuracy, and managing timelines. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data management, specifically within capital markets, and experience in driving high-impact data initiatives that directly impact business outcomes.
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that project goals, timelines, and data requirements are clearly defined and met. You will play a key role in the successful implementation of data solutions, ensuring that data quality, governance, and business needs are effectively managed. You will play a critical role in defining, refining, and delivering high-value features while ensuring alignment with trunk-based development, automation, BDD, TDD, system design, and modern ways of working.
This role requires deep expertise in agile product ownership, technical awareness, hands-on experience in defining data acceptance criteria, and working closely with data engineering teams to enable high-quality, secure, and scalable data flow development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Data Projects:
- Lead and manage data-related projects, particularly within the Capital Markets domain, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely delivery. Oversee the successful implementation of data control processes and data governance practices for big data lake projects.
Data Control & Governance:
- Implement and enforce data control frameworks to ensure consistency, integrity, and accuracy of data across all stages of data lifecycle management. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to data accuracy and reporting within the capital markets domain.
Business & Technical Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and technical teams. Gather and define business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure that the final solutions meet the business needs.
Data Accuracy & Quality Management:
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain high data quality standards, including data accuracy, completeness, and consistency, especially in large-scale data lake environments.
Timelines & Project Management:
- Define, manage, and track data project timelines. Work closely with project managers to ensure milestones are met and project deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Stakeholder Management:
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including business units, data scientists, data engineers, and senior management, to ensure alignment on business needs and data requirements.
Data Reporting & Analysis:
- Provide detailed reports on data quality metrics, project status, and any risks or issues. Analyze data trends, performance, and project outcomes to drive actionable insights.
Documentation & Best Practices:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on business requirements, data control processes, data governance, and project deliverables. Establish and enforce best practices for data management within the organization.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve data processes, governance, and data quality standards. Suggest enhancements to data architectures and workflows to optimize performance and efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with at least 3 years focused on data-driven projects in the Capital Markets domain (e.g., trading systems, portfolio management, risk management, derivatives, equities).
Data Management Expertise:
- Strong experience in implementing data control frameworks, data governance policies, and managing data accuracy within large data environments such as data lakes and big data projects.
Project Management & Timelines:
- Proven experience managing data projects, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of key milestones and meeting business requirements.
Business & Technical Communication:
- Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
Data Quality & Accuracy:
- Proven ability to define and enforce data quality standards, including methods for identifying and correcting data issues to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Tools & Technologies:
- Familiarity with data management tools, big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Hive), and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Knowledge of data integration techniques, ETL processes, and data visualization.
Stakeholder Management:
- Strong ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring that business needs are met while aligning with technical capabilities and timelines.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and solve complex data-related issues, providing innovative solutions to data challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
Agile Methodology:
- Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with Agile project management frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
Certifications:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) are a plus.
Cloud Data Solutions:
- Experience working with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure) for big data storage and processing.
Big Data & Data Lakes:
- Experience working on big data lake projects, including understanding how data flows through such systems and how it is managed, validated, and made accessible for analytics.
