Citigroup Product Data Lead -Fund Services, Securities Services in Pune, India

This is a leadership role and therefore requires a deep hands-on working knowledge of the Funds business. The candidate would be required to lead, change, improve and execute on the data strategy using best in class methods, tools and capabilities. This role will leverage broad Fund Accounting & Administration domain knowledge, deep experience influencing product, operations, design, and IT architecture change, as they partner and influence global functions ensuring a 24h / 6d model though a single client experience across the globe.

Product Data Lead is responsible for managing a team owning the Data strategy and providing direction, leadership. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the development of product plans, strategies, and tactics while coordinating product lines through product life cycles in coordination with the broader Product Management team.

Timely execution, seamless business and client change are extremely important to ensure Fund Services continues its growth path and expands its relationships with strategic clients.

Responsibilities

  • Commercially and strategically minded with responsibility to develop and execute the data strategy and vision for the Fund Services product, while aligning to the wider Securities Services Strategy.

  • Execute on the strategy and development agenda to build a data driven operating model partnering with technology, office of architecture, operations and enterprise data management covering:

  • Data governance and quality aligning with enterprise model

  • Data capability including industry standards impacting the custody business

  • Data infrastructure and data sourcing

  • Data channels

  • Data insights/visualisation - work with the data collected and develop relevant, actionable insights

  • Deliver a clear data product roadmap in-collaboration with Funds Head of Product Change and Transformation

  • Ensure change remains aligned to existing standards and/or internal enterprise data management policies.

  • Development in partnership with product control a product data platform to provide insight into the business.

  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate governance, compliance with policies/frameworks and oversight of issues, risks, audit and compliance items related to data topics

  • Present to senior management as requested and lead delivery of initiatives as required.

  • Manage client and competitor market research, develop data product innovation roadmap, and address fundamental trials of product data commoditization to create an advanced set of solutions

Skills

  • Proven change agent with track record of delivery in the data and financial services domains

  • Background or experience in data solutions, data modelling, analysis and visualization

  • Good understanding of the Funds domain and capabilities to make informed decisions and data related to this subject area - critical to understand the business applications of data insights (e.g., what business questions do need to be answered) and what data elements will effectively satisfy those needs.

  • Prior experience of successfully delivering change in a complex environment whilst managing competing environments, and delivering projects using Agile and Waterfall techniques

  • Track record of working in the data space with ISO standards and development of data solutions to solve problems

  • Have an understanding of a variety of data management and data analysis software packages, databases and data visualization tools

  • Familiarity with industry integration tools and their applicability in shortening the chain of custody across the investment lifecycle

  • Develop and communicate the data product strategy & governance principles aimed at optimizing straight-through processing and guaranteeing the timeliness, completeness, accuracy, and internal consistency of the Funds product data and the resultant financial reporting, business processing, and overall client experience success.

  • Manage a broad range of data and SaaS vendors that provide services / data to the business. Ensure the bank wide standards are met for all vendors including strict commercial discipline.

  • Design, build and deploy an enterprise data model that supports the end to end accounting business and aligns to the broader business data strategy.

  • Partner with Legal, Risk, & Compliance on data policies

  • Develop plans and execute data strategies for a country, multiple countries, region, or business requiring coordination and integration across units as well as provide input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business

Experience

  • 7+ years in a data engineering leadership role, owning and shaping enterprise data models and data strategies.

  • 2-3 years’ experience in the financial services space, preferably in Securities Services

  • Exceptional communication & presentation skills

  • Has superior strategic, analytic and problem-solving skills, and is capable of clearly communicating a long-term vision across the company and clients.

  • Consultative experience

  • Prior experience working in data and/or technology- familiarity with tools such as JavaScript, Python & Python Libraries, Structured Query Language (SQL) , Hadoop, Snowflake, Qlik, Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Artificial intelligence , Collibra , Manta would be useful

  • Extensive experience in business process technology architecture engineering /implementations

  • Deep industry experience in tech solutions for Fund Accounting (Traditional and Alts)

  • Outcome oriented, with a successful track record of delivering excellence for our clients

  • Self-motivated, independent, multi-tasker, willing and able to take ownership of various parts of an initiative.

  • Ability to effectively deliver under time pressure, clarifying ambiguity as needed to deliver against expectations.

  • Ability to coordinate and tie break in complex and siloed organizations through Influence and develop strong relationships by driving value added change.

  • Must be disciplined and comfortable with ambiguity, possessing the maturity and capability to interact and influence across multiple levels and a global matrixed organization

  • Ability to elevate the conversation to client’s needs and objectives, and also dig into the details and process flows

  • Flexible – demonstrated experience working effectively with multiple stake holders

  • Strong analytical skills, including numbers and situational analyses, and high attention to detail

  • Organization and project management skills, including effective cross-functional management skills

  • Team player

  • Able to prioritize work, and shift priorities as needed to meet aggressive deadlines and milestones

  • Promotes teamwork and builds strong relationships within and across global teams

  • Bring multiple teams together to drive towards a common goal for the enterprise.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Industry certification in a data analytics would be advantageous
